I've always gone there in March/April and it's been sunny and warm. Looked at the current weather forecast, which indicates temps in the 50s with 30s at night, no precip forecasted.......Any tales of late December weather in J-Tree would be appreciated! wave.gif

It can be awesome or it can be freezing with howling winds. Plan on a lot of campfires or a lot of time spent in town in the evening. New Years Eve keg party on top of Intersection Rock is a good place to get drunk and free solo. Can't think of many other details. If it's full moon look for Chongo and mention crawling around under the boulders.

My only trip there was right at Christmas. Dark and snowing when we arrived. Awoke to before dawn under clear skies with just a skiff of new snow. Insanely pretty, ran off three rolls of Kodachrome in less than an hour when the sun came up. Plenty warm enough for climbing when the sun was up. Enjoy.

I was down there two years ago during that time and it was excellent. Up into the upper teens and twenties celsius during the days and cool at night. We didn't see a cloud in the sky for 10 days.

If you go, watch out for a big group of a dozen VOCers this year! bigdrink.gif

Random weather.

2002 the sun was out with not a cloud in the sky all week between xmas and new years. 70 degrees.

2003 brought on winds and cold cold nights with snow precip.

Heading back this year again. I guess we'll just wait and see.

I was down there in December 2000. First couple of days were nice but chilly. Then it snowed 8 inches; all the locals from town were driving up to build snowmen, pile snow up on their cars, etc. Needless to say, we probably got in more bowling than climbing on that trip!

Blue skies, warm granite (or quartz monzonite, whatever Geek_em8.gif), and funky-ass trees:

Was there the weekend before thanksgiving this year. 1-2 feet of snow and COLD. The main road thru. the park was closed in part. Might have been a freak snow storm.
