Jarred_Jackman
I'm wanting to climb the Harvard route on Huntington and I need more money to make the trip happen. Does anybody out there have info regarding good grants for folks not doing the gnarly first ascents, but still pushing personal limits, or just a good lead on some grants or places to find cash for climbing (besides working, which I'm doing already) in general. thanks Jarred
cj001f
Most grants want either scientific research or "signifigant style". Dunno if the Harvard would qualify. Nevertheless try the American Alpine Club or the Mazamas
specialed
I'm organizing a trip to climb Outer Space on Snow Creek Wall this weekend. Anyone know where I can get a grant for gas and horsecock expenses?
DPS
Hi Jarred, I think you will find that most grants are indeed for cutting edge and exploratory type ascents. A trip to Huntington is really quite cheap. Your biggest expenses will be travel (assuming you have the gear) which will cost less than 700 dollars. You could put that on a credit card. jaee
The Mazamas chip in on a few expeditions a year. I think for a trip like this you may get a few hundred bucks from them. There is some paperwork to fill out and you'll be expected to do a slideshow and/or lecture for the classes. Check the page here: http://www.mazamas.org/resources/exped_grantinfo.php
Jarred_Jackman
Thanks, I know it's not super expensive, but everything counts. thanks to those with the helpful input. Also, the Alpinist Mag does B-Team grants for anyone interested.
snoboy
I think, off the top of my head, that MEC and the ACC do some grants...
