Ireneo_Funes
We got rained off Super Slab on Sunday morning. First time I'd seen it rain like that at Smith. Last time I leave all my spare clothes in the car, though. Then we hung out for a few hours 'til things dried out, then climbed some more. The tuff seems to dry off fast. iain
Smith is fun this time of year with all the sportos in their tights and down jackets. It's like a Mr. Peanut look-alike convention at Morning Glory.
rbw1966
Those top hats make a nice place to keep your chalk dry. Those monacles are a bitch to keep in place when dyno'ing though
specialed
Yeah but that stick clip / cane is always close at hand for the scary 10' high first bolts.

iain
go swing on that trapeze set up on The Great Roof and kiss Tommy's rear while you're up at the mudpile!
Ireneo_Funes
That reminds me... when we were heading back across the river on Sunday, there was a crew setting up some rigging for a photo shoot up on the Picnic Lunch Wall. We ran into a guy who said they were going to take photos of Tommy Caldwell doing some 14b or something there. And that they'd drilled some new bolts...for their cameras & such. It all seemed cool except the part about the drilling. 'Course this is all secondhand information.
iain
It's Smith, anything goes! It's like Thunderdome, really.
b-rock
After recently climbing 'First Kiss' I can say with some authority - you can put as many bolts in at Smith as you like.
Ireneo_Funes
Yeah, for climbing on, OK, but........oh, never mind! Smith's not the place to talk about ethics, I guess. Leave that to the Dishmaniacs.

skyclimb
First Kiss is a great introduction to multi-pitch climbing. Ledges are great at each belay, and it is bolted safely. I will be at smith this weekend pullin' for sure. grasslands friday night late
Drederek
Yeah I wondered about you guys on super slab. We rapped by ya right before it got wet. Did you see the tumbleweeds hurtling thru the air hundreds of feet above the river?
Ireneo_Funes
Yeah, we were cowering in the little alcove below the 3rd pitch, trying to stay dry, hoping the rain would stop. When we saw the tumbleweeds flying by overhead, we figured that was as good a sign as any to head down. So did you guys do Paper Tiger?
