wally Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Hey liberal climbing comrades. looks like your boy took a beating no? But thats coming from a right wing environmentalist conservative nut job such as myself. In my view Kerry kicked his own butt with flip flopping skill. How you guys feel your boy did? Quote
scott_harpell Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 i don't have a t.v. anyone wanna give me the low down? Quote
Alpinfox Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I liked the part(s) where W just stared at the camera like a deer in the headlights... and then started talking about "messed mixages". Â Â Interesting that he still hasn't learned how to pronounce "nuclear", despite the fact that he puppets Kerry in saying that nuclear proliferation is the most important threat to homeland security. Â W made surprisingly few grammatical errors and only misused a few words. A marked improvement. Â A synopsis: Â Cowboy W: "vote for me OR YER GONNA DIE!!!!" Â Yalie boy Kerry: "I can't believe I have to 'debate' this ass-clown" Quote
wally Posted October 1, 2004 Author Posted October 1, 2004 yeah I know we all wait eagerly to hear the butcher of the english language in action, but nothing to make fun of tonight. who do you think presented a clearer vision of the war on terror? Quote
klenke Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Both candidates flubbed words. You would too under such a spotlight. It meant nothing to me. However, that "messed mixages" part did made me snicker. He did correct himself though, and that's what's important. Those deer-in-the-headlight pauses from Double-pugh were funny too. Â All that said, I can't really say who won it. Both had their good moments and their bad moments. I suppose if I added up the score for every question response and rebuttal I could determine who "won" but overall I would call it a tie. But that's just me. Or more to the point, neither swayed me from my intended Pax for Prez write-in vote. Quote
Alpinfox Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 neither swayed me from my intended Pax for Prez right-in vote.  In a show of solidarity, and for the good of the nation, I will be urging all of my delegates to cast their votes for  WILL STRICKLAND FOR PRESIDENT 2004!!!! Quote
willstrickland Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Klenke, are you on drugs? Kerry wiped the floor with Bush. Â Even Scarborough, who always shills for the right, is saying Kerry won the thing. Even the freeper blogs are dismal and calling it a Kerry win. Â What debate were you watching? Quote
klenke Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 i don't have a t.v. anyone wanna give me the low down? The best part was when Kerry picked up his podium and tossed it at Bush. Ah, it was classic. You should have seen it! Will: whatever, dude. Quote
Alpinfox Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 A few other memorable outtakes: Â Cowboy W: "I know what those troops are going through! I watch TV!!!". Â _________ Â Lehrer: (question to Bush, something about North Korean nuclear weapons) Â W: "Look! Saddam was a threat!" Â _______ Quote
Skeezix Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Mild Bush-isms from the debate ...not too bad for a chronic mush-mouth (mushy brains if you ask me...): People out there listening know what I believe. And that's how best it is to keep the peace. Â This nation of ours has got a solemn duty to defeat this ideology of hate. And that's what they are. Â He was hoping we'd turn away. But there was fortunately others beside himself who believed that we ought to take action. Quote
cracked Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Anybody have a link to a full transcript? I unfortunately missed it on TV. Quote
Luna Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 The transcript will likely read even worse than Bushie's performance. Anyone with more than a peabrain has to ask - how did this idiot get in the White House. He stumbled and bumbled, looked scared and defensive, and kept repeating himself because he could put together coherent sentences beyond 20 seconds or so. Then to fill up the other 100 seconds he would start repeating. The best among many blunders was when he said Saddam attacted the US. Wasn't close, Kerry was very sharp and straighforward. Quote
willstrickland Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Cracked, transcript here: Â http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,134152,00.html Quote

j_b Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 full transcript: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/debatereferee/debate_0930.html  i thought kerry was quite sharp, especially in explaining how he would win in iraq. notably, he said he would make sure arabs and iraqis in particular understand that the u.s. would not maintain a permanent presence in iraq (then he talked about the bases). my opinion of kerry went up a whole lot. Quote
willstrickland Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I fixed it for you Cracked, but the WaPost one is probably better. I read some of the one I linked and it has alot of spelling errors in names. The stenographer definitely didn't brush up on military commanders. Quote
cracked Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I'm watching the videos. Too bad evil Fox News is the only place I can find em. I'll be back! Quote
scott_harpell Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I just read the whole thing and it looked pretty even to me. If you ignore petty grammar mistakes, Bush did well. Kerry also did well showing he is a man of action and not the flacid man that Bush says he is. I don't look at the speaking abilities as a reason to vote for people personally. Quote
philfort Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 It's supposed to be airing again on KCTS (ch9) right now... Quote
griz Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 my opinion of kerry went up a whole lot. Â Yeah, I'd always planned on voting for him but I actually feel pretty good about it now. Kerry's closing was strong stuff . Bush's sounded like something written and read by a 1st grader. He was so defensive at times I thought he was going to start and run off to his mamma. Quote
scott_harpell Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Â And that's how best it is to keep the peace. Quote
