With different computers, with different programs, with different music CDs, I have had maybe half of all I try to burn come out and the rest, not.

Is there a trick to getting less wasted burns? Perhaps a certain brand of blanks, or a certain burn speed that works the best for people?

I have found that using data CDs I get a success rate of about 80%. Using the CDs specifically marketed for music burjing I get a near 99% success rate. Maybe its the blank CDs you are using.

-burn at less than full speed

-buy decent blanks, no 100 for $10 jobbies

-use the test function of the burning software

-don't try and do other stuff at the same time on your computer if it is slow

-copy the original to your hard drive first

I must lead a charmed life. I use cheap cd's from Costco, Nero software, and either a Sony or Lite-on burner running at 52x and almost never have a failure. Gotta do some other shennanigans for the copy protected stuff though, that often involves making a coaster or two.

Ditto OW, I have a 100% success rate with both cds and DvDs with Nero 6 as my prog and a TDK cd burner and a Pioneer DVD burner.

No real tricks and even the cheapest cds will be fine.

I do agree with Snoboy on burning at less than max speed. I usually burn around 10x and find that is plenty fast but usually half the max speed of your burner would be cool if thats a higher number.

Also if you have low RAM (less than 512)and try to burn while running other programs or often just surfing, will jack the burn process.
