WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

I think Hemingway said this, and it goes something like this, excuse the butchering: Make sure you do everything you said you were going to do while getting drunk the night before. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut the next time.

-Still learning that one.

bigdrink.gifThat one makes me think of a night in a bar after many pints of guiness and shots of Jaegermeister , I anounced to my friends I was going to do the first naked ascent of Race Brook Falls , that is a 3 pitch water fall in Massachusetts. Not very hard , but long enough to have some serious "shrinkage" at least. blush.gif Never did get around to that project, though I thought about it once when I was there by myself once. grin.gif

Better to have people think you the fool then to open your mouth and prove them right.

-I forget who said it but what is important is I remebered it.

said to me while golfing, but I think it can be applied just about anywhere:

"don't get mad, you're not good enough to get mad"

From my dad when he dropped me off for college:

Don't get killed, don't get anyone pregnant, and have fun.

Best overall advice:

Never put your hand in your mouth, 'cause you know EXACTLY where its been...

I think it was Mark Twain who popularized it, but it's been around a very long time.

"Whatever you do, take care of your shoes!" -Phish, thank you...you will be missed. mushsmile.gif

"When you've reached the end of your rope, tie a big knot and hang on!"

My friend and mentor Ryan Shreve, RIP bigdrink.gif

Corolary to the above: "If you can't tie a good knot, tie lots of them."

I've heard it this way "If you can't tie a knot, Tie ALOT"

I thought it was honest abe and went more like:

"It's better to be silent and have people think you're stupid, than to talk and have people know you're stupid"
