Am skeded to go here to Alpine Club of Canada hut via helicopter with ACC in Aug. Can anybody tell me what's to expect? The range in immediate area is called the Adamants.

The hut is fantastic, and it'll probably be full of food left by other helicopter parties. The Adamants are a relatively small group of peaks, pretty steep and alpine, and the central peaks on the massif have no easy way up and down. It is compact rock, pins and small gear will be useful. There are good scrambling objectives as well as big-wall climbs and some excellent alpine routes.

Bring your raincoat and some books.

I have not been there in summer but it is a killer hut, perhaps one of the finest in the ACC. The winter skiing/climbing options are truly unbelievable.

Here are some photos/report from someone who hiked out to Fairy Meadows from the Great Cairn Hut over by Sir Sandford:

His reports from winter are there too. You will probably have the hut to yourself in August. It is hotly contested during the ski season though.

I participated in BCMC climbing camp in 2001. To cut the cost we camped above hut near the lake. Beautiful area! We climbed a lot and the best rock-climb was on Ironman. It was one of the great 5.7-5.8 with exit above 3000m. View from the summit was stunning! When you see that you will go next season to Mt. Sir Sandford area to climb Turret or Blackfriers.

Don't hesitate tu much, just go!

Regards,

Zoran
