RobBob Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 This is much like a recent story I heard about the Balkans. Apparently its the UN administrators there that are doing the majority of a booming business with prostitutes. Quote
foraker Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 not meaning to take away from the message, but would that be the "liberal media" dissing the UN? Quote
Dru Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 What if PP posted more about climbing (or snafflehounds) and less boring political links, or even discussed ideas instead of just posting links to articles? Quote
Dru Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 where were you in squamish this weekend by the way? Quote
foraker Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 me? nowhere. it was raining. it *was* raining, right? it looked like it was Quote
JoshK Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Yes, I'm sure UN troops hold the monopoly on soliciting prostitution... Â After all US troops are model citizens...they never proposition prostitutes, they just get prisoners naked and take homoerotic pictures with them. Quote
murraysovereign Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 me? nowhere. it was raining. it *was* raining, right? it looked like it was  Ummm, no, it wasn't raining. We had a beautiful weekend. It rained Friday evening, but people were climbing at 9 AM Saturday. Where were you, and what was your weather doing that made you think it was raining in Squamish? Quote
foraker Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 all the forecasts said rain, peoples messages said rain. Quote
gotterdamerung Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 After all US troops are model citizens...they never proposition prostitutes, they just get prisoners naked and take homoerotic pictures with them. Â Those prisoners were being punished for gang raping a fellow inmate. Just so you understand this photograph clearly from now on. Quote
foraker Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 So, just so that I can understand things more clearly then, which order would you have been giving to the guards? Quote
scott_harpell Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 JoshK... why do you hat the U.S. so much? Quote
gotterdamerung Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 So, just so that I can understand things more clearly then, which order would you have been giving to the guards? Â Warfare requires a pagan ethic. Something most don't have a stomach for, but I do. Death would have been my directive. Quote
foraker Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 So, one cannot question the actions of the military because it is equivalent to hating the US? In what universe? That sounds more Orwellian than anything I remember reading in the Federalist Papers.... Quote

That sounds more Orwellian than anything I remember reading in the Federalist Papers.... Â No, but when one perpetually makes excuses for the enemy, tries to make every other place on the earth sound like heaven compared to the U.S. and is decidedly berrating the U.S. and everything about it it makes you stop and think... scott_harpell Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 and Mr. Foraker... you have a gift with hyperbole. Quote

foraker Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I don't see him being an apologist for The Enemy, I think he's rightfully upset that we present ourselves as somehow morally superior and yet don't live up to that ideal. I have a litany of complaints about my country and my countrymen, but I'm not saying I'd rather live in, say, Bangladesh. I feel that people that question the actions of government and its instruments are living up to what our founders had in mind. I feel that way regardless of whether their views are liberal or conservative. Not all of us who are unhappy with things, and would like to see them better, appreciate being called 'Haters of America'. And,yes, I have complaints about liberal *and* conservatives issues. Quote

j_b Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 can't you people stop talking about prisoner torture in iraq, it's obvious it's making the warmongers uncomfortable. so uncomfortable in fact, that they'll stoop down to accusing you of being a traitor if you bring it up one more time. so let's get back on topic and talk only about how perverted the un is or else ... scott_harpell Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Who said or implied that we were superior. Again, yo uare either making things up or blowing things out of proportion. Â Â also.. I never compared the Iraqui conflict with either of those two wars. Brush up on the reading comprehension laddies. Quote
