fleblebleb Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Three pairs of crampons in closet, duckbill toes: nothing fits properly. Ideas anyone? What works for you guys? UTB binding anyone? Regular 12 pt crampon models people are using? What's the cheapest solution? Quote
snugtop Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I just got a pair of G10 "wide" 'poons from Marmot. The're made for teleboots and work like a champ. I wouldn't want to lead any WI5s with them but for your run of the mill slogs they work well. Light too. Quote
Ade Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I was told that the BD Sabertooths were supposed to fit the Terminator boots. Have you checked those out? Quote
Alpinfox Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 (edited) What? Huh? Snugtop is an ice climber now? Sniff... Sniff.... Is that French cheese I smell? Edited May 21, 2004 by Alpinfox Quote
cj001f Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Sabertooths or Grivel 2F's. You can even move the front bail on the sabertooths back to give you more protruding point - if that's what you mean by proper fit. Quote
rbw1966 Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Another vote for Sabres. Do a search on here for LOTS of discussion re crampons on tele boots. I've been using sabretooths (teeth?) on my Terminators for years. Quote
Billygoat Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I have tried Sabretooths on my T-3s. they work very well. Quote
boatskiclimbsail Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 In lieu of mountaineering boots, when we ran out we would outfit students with tele boots and sabretooths. They are pretty secure, just make sure the height of the rear bale is correct or they can peel off. Front points are about 1/2" shorter, even with the bale in the close notch. Quote
rtholmes Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I've had no problems with my Grivel 2Fs on garmont tele boots. They fit on snugly, actually better than any other boot I've tried the crampons on. Quote
David_Parker Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I have a quiver of crampons and the first pair I ever bought work best for my tele boots.....old school SMC's! I wish I had the scottish style straps though. Hard to thread the posts with cold hands. Quote
