assmonkey Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 It's spring. What do you guys carry with you, if anything, to clean the winter moss from our local routes? Nut tool? Fuller brush? Fingertips? Quote

Distel32 Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 I doubt you are going to be cleaning boulders, but if you are: Heavy broom, metal brushes, ladder, some sort of crowbar type instrument, a shovel.....probably some other stuff too depending on how big the boulders are. Quote
lancegranite Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 A Stil 32 for your gold bar projects... Quote
mattp Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 The most important tool of all is "common sense." Lots of climbers cause trouble for us when they develop climbing or bouldering areas too close to trails or roads or in obviously environmentally sensitive areas like a marshy lakeshore or something. Others practice their trade in a crowded climbing area on the weekends. If you are going to go get a klein bucket and fill it up with tools, think about what you are doing and where. Quote
kurthicks Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Others practice their trade in a crowded climbing area on the weekends. I had this happen to me at Vantage in February last year. they were "cleaning" up after that column got tipped over. there was choss flying all over the place, but that's not unusual at Vantage. texplorer Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 The wire brush is my weapon of choice (learned from the fellow mossinater, jk) Quote
backcountrydog Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 14v dewalt cordless w plastic brush wheel bit. 2 batteries can do a great job on an 80ft rt. the wire brush wheels tend to where down faster and use more battery power. small saw small broom gloves to save your knuckles if your cleaning cracks Quote
