icegirl Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 last week, Canturbury's was discussed. There were no dissenting votes. The Wedgewood broiler was mentioned in passing. Discuss...
Thinker Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 my favorite thing about the Canterbury is the photos of people who are banned from the bar that are thumbtacked all around the cash register. I think I saw photos of Trask and Dwayner up there awhile back....
bobinc Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 The Canterbury is a great place to catch up on your second-hand smoking.
Squid Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Damn, IceGirl, you're planning way too far ahead. It's not even Friday yet!
klenke Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 I would just like to point out that the trip report for a Pub Club held there would be called The Canturbury Tales.
AlpineK Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 I really wish I could go to the Canturbury, but for me Pub Club will be northwest of Pemberton next week.
catbirdseat Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 We must wait another month: Whan that Aprile with his shoures soote The droght of March hath perced to the roote And Bathed each veyne in swich liqour...(beer)
icegirl Posted March 12, 2004 Author Posted March 12, 2004 Good, it's settled then, now start rounding up your climbing buddies and let's make this a fine gathering. People start filtering in around 6:30-7 and stay till whenever.
klenke Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 Directions info here. 534 15th Ave. E I expect to see Tread Tramp there, right Ralph?
Thinker Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 I posted this on last week's thread too, by mistake...damn. Hey, great job on getting this decided a few days beforehand! I think it can only serve to increase the number of people who show and the fun quotient. As I've stated before, when the destination is decided on Tuesday at 4 it essentially limits attendance to people who have internet access on Tuesdays at 4 to 6pm....which may eliminate some of the most colorful people reading the board. See you there! Squid, are you showing? btw, Squid's idea for The Little Red Hen in Greenlake would be an absolute hoot to have a pub club at. They have country dance lessons on Tuesday nights for and hour or so before the band starts (no cover on Tuesdays)...it would be some cheap entertainment to watch...or to participate in. Plenty of room, pool tables, a bit smoky, but I've never had the food there. http://littleredhen.com/pages/cal.htm
Dave_Schuldt Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 I'm showing; people offered to buy me beer!!! Thanks for the warning.
snugtop Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 I *love* the Little Red Hen but that place is as smoky as it gets. It makes the Canterbury seem like the great outdoors.
Gary_Yngve Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 I'll get there late... hopefully by 9:00? Our trio's got a gig before then.
Corona Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 I hope 9:00 isnt too late, I will be stopping by around 9:00 ish.
klenke Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 No, not too late. Especially if you bring coronas Corona. Gary: if we cc.commies paid you, would you & your trio do a gig for us at the next BBQ?
catbirdseat Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Nice turnout. We had Jim Nelson, Kit, Mattp, Thinker, Marylou, Icegirl, AlpinFox, Sergio, klenke, Snugtop, Treadtramp (beer glass breaker), Toast and there were others, but I am drawing a blank right now. Come on, help me out here.
klenke Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Nice turnout. We had Jim Nelson, Kit, Mattp, Thinker, Marylou, Icegirl, AlpinFox, Sergio, klenke, Snugtop, Treadtramp (beer glass breaker), ToastAlso, Corona, Squid, Squid's friend Michelle, Rocksanyone, GaryY, Dave Schuldt, another one of Nelson's friends, and, most important of all, Dr. ChucK. (Chaucer was also there in spirit.) That's 21 by my count! I wonder what the record is for highest turn out.
catbirdseat Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Chaucer was there in print too. Unfortuantely, in a modern English translation.
