Maestro
The Forest Service office in Cle Elum reports that the road is open all the way now, the mud slide having been removed a couple days ago.

Bug
Hey Pandora. Did you go up there? How much snow was there on the southern exposure up to Ingalls lk? Where did the snow start? I might take my girls up there this weekend if it has some dry spots to camp on. Thanks for any info.
Pandora
Bug - no, I didn't go up there. I was asking for my dad, and he ended up driving to Hood. I'm sorry I don't have any info for ya!
Bug
Thanks anyway Pandora. Anyone else have any info?
slothrop
I was up there Sunday 5/22. Snow started a few hundred feet below Ingalls Pass along the trail and the basin around the lake is under about two feet of freshiez. The sun sure melts it off fast, though, as there was much more bare trail on the hike out midafternoon. The road is indeed open to the trailhead. Stuart sure is perty with a nice dusting! kenp
Hey slothrop, what did the West Ridge of Stuie look like?
slothrop
Like so: Just after Ingalls Pass: South Ridge on Ingalls Peak North: Click any of the images to download bigger versions.
kenp
Great, thanks! Looks like I have a month to wait in order for the WR to dry out. Ingalls sure looks doable tho!
goatboy
How do you make it so that you can "click on the images to download bigger images?" Is that normal, or did you do something funky in the post?
slothrop
Put the image tag inside the URL tag, like this: [ url=http:// bigpicture ][ image ] http:// littlepicture [ /image ] [ /url ]
mattyg
slothrop, is that last pic take ON the south ridge? What's seen in background there?
slothrop
That's the South Ridge in the background, sort of hidden behind the rock fin on the right. I took the photo from very close to the base of the route. It's gotta be bone dry by now.
mattyg
Presumably the South Ridge route goes something like this. . ? (see attachment, I can't seem to get my village photo account to work)
mattyg
Any beta on getting into Ingalls Lake? I got lost a few years back on some road back there. Dunno why. We ended up watching World Cup soccer and drinking beer at some roadside bar which was probably almost as fun.
Heavy_B
mattyg - there are several variations, but the most commonly used route begins a little further right and avoids that totally vertical section that is marked in the picture. I'll try to attach a couple pics i took a few years ago on the route.
slothrop
Teanaway River Rd to the end of pavement, then take the right fork dirt road until it ends at the trailhead in several miles. Stay on the main road. Hike up the trail 1/4mi. to a fork, turn right. Stay left at the next fork. There are signs on the trail at the junctions, you're looking for Ingalls Way Trail and Ingalls Pass.
kenp
Ingalls is the main trail, you have to turn at the second right for Longs Pass. Slothrop's description is right on
