JoshK Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 I really suck at figuring these out, so any help I can get to rename my pictures is great. Here are two more, both taken from the summit of Ruth Mountain, near Shuksan. http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=3211&password=&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=3210&password=&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 Quote
JoshK Posted January 26, 2004 Author Posted January 26, 2004 Mt. Despair The closeup pic of the single mountain I assume you mean? thanks! Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 I didnt read anything before I posted. I thouhgt pic one was blum. likely not. which direction was the photo taken from and which mountain from. Quote
Dru Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 isn't the second one the N and S pickets as seen looking east? challenger at left most etc Quote
JoshK Posted January 26, 2004 Author Posted January 26, 2004 isn't the second one the N and S pickets as seen looking east? challenger at left most etc That is what I thoguht but I am pretty bad at picking out the peaks if I am seeing them from a new aspect. Ruth has some great summit views, one of my favorite so far. Quote
mtn_mouse Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 The closeup looks like Mineral mountain Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 That's blum after a second look and no thoughts on where direction was.. Give the details. I think you are looking at the NR of Blum Quote
To_The_Top Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 When were they taken? Ruth does have great views. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 What page in the guidebook has that photo of Despair? Blum does look like that from vantages. I am just debating here and only in regards to my own photos. Quote
plexus Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 That first one is Blum...is the second further south down the same ridge. Looks like the multi-summit Hagen, but it don't have no snow?! Quote

I think you are looking at the NR of Blum Yeah, Cavey, you are right. I just looked at the topo and that ridge and the glaciers match blum exactly. This was taken in...lemme think...early november. Right before our first big snows came. Quote
JoshK Posted January 26, 2004 Author Posted January 26, 2004 Here is another somewhat obscure one, also from Ruth summit. My guess is this is something labeld on the topos as "Pioneer Ridge" it featuers a glacier, that, on the topo, looks very similar in shape to this. Anybody else have a guess? http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=3215&password=&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 Quote

dkemp Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 Yeah, first one is Blum - impressive. Second one is Pickets, featuring Challenger Gl on the left there. Third is Pioneer Ridge I think. Makes sense with Baker River valley below. Yeah, I think Ruth has one of the biggest exersion-to-payoff ratios in the Cascades. I love name-that-peak threads. One of many things I love about cc.com.
