Doctorb
The increase in temperature is due to the enthalpy of fusion, not the heat of combutsion. I thought you would have known this.
Gary_Yngve
The missing person is probably dead by now. Too bad he was stupid enough to go out alone and without sufficient equipment.
iain
I finally summited, though my elation was tempered by the multiple chimney rappels (possibly with the EDK, possibly not) with pack that awaited. I have not felt this much elation since last Friday's heated Scrabble fest. My fingers were sore from a marathon rock polishing party earlier, so I had difficulty grabbing my scrabble tiles efficiently. However, I was ultimately triumphant. iain
Cordelettes must have low angles between the pieces and tied with a correctly-dressed double-fisherman's knot (aka the grapevine knot)... and, must be composed of 2,3 diphenylbenzopolymerate-polypropelene, though some related polymers are acceptable in a pinch. I carry a test vial to determine the chemical composition of any rap station in my alpine chemistry kit

chucK
Â I'm curious as to whether such perfectly rectilinear anchor placements are optimal. To my way of thinking, pits with irregular sides may be more practical in the field, and may actually increase the shear strength.
