allthumbs Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 I was thinking about you trail runners and mtn. bikers. In 1994 I was attacked by a pitbull mix. Things were happening damn fast but I was able to get 2 shots into him. A cat is different than a pitbull but I think you will be surprized how fast you can get down to business when your adrenaline is up. Bring a piece and practice, practice, practice. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Yeah that psycho catnip eating feline that Mattp has is one to be reckoned with in the wrong situation. He hasn't mucked with me much but has a 'tude you wouldn't believe for such a small creature. Best defense is no offense or just outright being loud I think. Quote
DPS Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 A local climber and trail runner was relating the story of how he was stalked and confronted by a cougar while running on Tiger Mt. From then on I was worried I would be attacked by a tiger while running on Cougar Mt. Quote
lancegranite Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 My wife and one of her friends were stalked while they were hiking at night in Bellingham. The animal followed them on one side of the trail, only to appear on the other side. The cougar stalked her all the way to the trailhead. Quote
allthumbs Posted January 13, 2004 Author Posted January 13, 2004 Those cats are sneaky fuckers for sure. Even with a gun a person is not assured the time to draw and fire. A more likely scenario is the draw and fire after the bastard has jumped you. A big-ass K-Bar ain't a bad idea either. Some of you pussys that post here at cc deserve to be "cat food". Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 I wonder if masks will work as well for lions as for tigers? "Masks have also helped save lives. Tigers generally stalk and attack from behind. Human face masks worn on the back of the head confuse them. Several have been seen following people but not pressing an attack. In 1987 when the masks were introduced, 30 were killed, but no-one wearing a mask (Man-eaters and Masks. Cat News 11, 1989, p. 12). Since then it has become compulsory to wear a mask and only one has been attacked from the side." Tiger, tiger, burning bright. Quote
iain Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 That latest story involved the lady being dragged off into the bushes by her face. Ouch. Quote
Dru Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 The cougars in the Lillooet bars just don't take no for an answer! Quote
mtn_mouse Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 If you pussies are so afraid of wild animals, why don't you just stay in the city????? Quote
