catbirdseat Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 I saw Bowling for Columbine and I thought Michael Moore was being really mean to Terry Nichols brother James. What do you think? Quote
allthumbs Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 I think less of you for going to see the movie in the first place. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 That Nichols cat was clearly insane. People aren't s'posed to have that wild-eyed look all the time, especially when accompanied by nervous laughter and quips about the UN, black helos, etc. You sleep with a loaded gun under your pillow and let a bunch of people with cameras into your house and tell them about it, you're asking for it. Â Fuck the nutjob. Quote
RobBob Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 I remember when the story was breaking, seeing some Nichols family members in the background, I woulda sworn they were Mennonites by the beards and haircuts. Quote

RobBob Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 I happened to see Michael Moore on "The View" a few weeks ago (I was in the gym on a treadmill, assclowns ). They pretty much turned him into a defensive little wanker with some good direct questioning about specific indiscrepancies in his diatribes. Quote
catbirdseat Posted October 29, 2003 Author Posted October 29, 2003 Trask, are you going to read Moore's new book? It got a pretty good review. Â Publisher's Weekly: "Flush from the success of Stupid White Men and an Academy Award for best documentary, Moore continues his rhetorical assault on the Bush administration. The book shares much with Al Franken's Lies besides liberal sentiment and satirical tone; not only do both authors rely on the hoary device of having God tell them He doesn't support the president, but they each claim to pack their carry-on luggage with baseballs to bean would-be hijackers. But where Franken attacks individual conservatives, Moore focuses on issues. His first chapter is a series of unsettlingly specific questions (based on rigorously footnoted facts) about the political and financial ties among Bush, the Saudi Arabian government and Osama bin Laden's family, though he leaps from the facts to speculation when he wonders whether the September 11 attacks might have been hatched within the Saudi military. Other chapters attack the public's susceptibility to what he casts as the fear-mongering tactics the administration has used to justify foreign military interventions and, he says, the erosion of domestic civil liberties, and he lays plans for a Democratic victory in 2004: in addition to a half-serious nomination of Oprah, he offers a prescient, reasoned and highly favorable evaluation of Wesley Clark as a candidate. Moore's arguments work best when delivered mostly straight, since he isn't always as funny as he seems to think he is. Straightforward propositions leavened with humor, like a guide to talking to conservative relatives, work fine, while efforts at flat-out farce ring hollow. But expect liberals to once again eagerly support one of their most prominent spokesmen by checking this out at the cash register. (Oct. 7) Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information. " Â Quote

catbirdseat Posted October 29, 2003 Author Posted October 29, 2003 Everyone has opinions. Some people are able to express them more eloquently than others. Moore's only weapons have been words and yet there are those that appear to have been gravely wounded. They want to kill him for ideas. If that were to happen he would be a martyr for sure, and his ideas would be even more powerful. Quote
