Ursa_Eagle
I'd just like to get a big thanx to the mountaineer group on South Early Winter Spire a week ago. We showed up after them, and they not only let us go in front of them. They were extremely helpful in giving any beta that we asked for, and they let us go in front because they figured they'd be slower. Oh, and for the record (I know this will come as a HUGE surprise to many of you), they weren't wearing polypro over shorts, and they weren't wearing gaiters... Thanx guys! Retrosaurus
*names taped on helmets *leather "belay gloves" clipped to gear loops *pack large enough for a week long solo winter climb *merit badges prominently displayed "certified belayer" "certified lead climber" "certified accident-waiting-to-happen"
Ursa_Eagle
uh, no. they only mentioned they were mountaineers when the offered to let us go ahead of them, that's how we found out. Get some new stereotypes
alpinechick
I was one of those "Mountaineers" and you're welcome. There are those of us that are nice and we don't follow that "OLD" stereotype.

nolanr
I drive a Subaru and I'm not a Mazama.
rbw1966
The key though is power-walking. If you drive a suby and power walk then you are a mazama--evein if you dont know it yet.
