adventuregal Posted September 19, 2003 Posted September 19, 2003 He spoke in town this morning... Had some interesting stuff to say. The story about cutting off the arm was FULL DETAIL! Hehe, I think some people got a little queasy. His main message was that everything is mental. If you believe you can climb it/ski it/survive, then you will. What do you all think?? Quote
lummox Posted September 19, 2003 Posted September 19, 2003 i think im glad i dint have to cut any arms off. Quote
catbirdseat Posted September 19, 2003 Posted September 19, 2003 90% of climbing is mental. The other half is also mental. Quote
Dru Posted September 19, 2003 Posted September 19, 2003 I think it's interesting that someone whose main claim to fame is getting in an accident and barely surviving, is a motivational speaker now. I guess its just like the Krakauer Eversest victims being more in demand than your joe-Average no epic successful summiter. Public wants to vicariously suffer epics in comfort. Do you think anyone will pay to hear me speak about the time cc.com was DOS'ed and I had to work with no spray for 2 whole hours? I nearly gnawed my arm off!!! Quote

adventuregal Posted September 19, 2003 Author Posted September 19, 2003 My favorite part was when he made his prosthetic hand do a complete 360 at the wrist!!!! Quote

specialed Posted September 19, 2003 Posted September 19, 2003 I think he had to go on the lecture circuit so he could pay for his new bionic 360 degree turnin' arm. Â Quote

Layton: make up a pamphlet and hit the "Inspirational Mangled Person" lecture series. You can get all shifty-eyed on them, and tell them that it's all about nothing, and swear at them like a weirdo, and shit, and talk about how your injury did almost nothing to change your life. Quote
