I took a short leader fall - 15 ft - on a # 2 camalot while on a crack in Red Rocks this weekend. I think it's the second fall on this piece. The thing looks a little mangled and bent, but no frayed wires. So it may just need some straightenig out. So what's a rule of thumb on cams? For wired nuts I just go by the shape of the cable.

If it gets dropped more than 15 feet onto rock, if it has cracked in the cam lobes, if the cams axles are bent, if the cam lobes are mangled enough to be suspect for placements - that's my short list

I'd say its fine, sight unseen...two falls is hardly working the piece, particularly if they are short...

Look at the axles...do they appear bent? That is your real answer...

I have taken tons of falls on my aliens. I agree with Lummox that as long as they still work smoothly they stay in use.

PS I have cams on my rack that I have found at the base of el cap. They work great and have held falls.
