jhamaker
Ideas? Also:Anyone notice if slopes are scoured and safe on SW-W aspects after the wind on Sun?
Cpt.Caveman
Kind of a vague question dont you think? Are you ice climbing in Canada or Wa.? Are you alpine slogging\burrowing? Mixed and where at?
genepires
There is also another problem with the question. Even though the winds have come from the sw/w that doesn't imply that all slopes with that aspect are wind scoured. It might apply to big mountains like the volcanoes but the wind gets all twisted around in the lower peaks. There very well could be loaded slopes with a sw/w aspect. It is something that you will have to determine at the scene. But hedge your bets and stay on ridges with south and west exposures and you MIGHT be ok. Go have fun. mr._happy
agree with allison. red rocks in march is near purr-fect. only problem is the place gets clogged with spring-breakers. you have to get up waaay early and sneak in to get first dibs on any of the popular trad routes.
