minx Posted March 16, 2003 Posted March 16, 2003 The state gov't clearly has no sense of humor! Saturday, March 15, 2003 A bum rap? Eyman initiative is ruled out By NEIL MODIE SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER OLYMPIA -- Is tax-cutting initiative purveyor Tim Eyman a "horse's ass?" The answer may never be known. Siding with the state attorney general, Thurston County Superior Court Judge Gary Tabor ruled yesterday that a proposed statewide initiative declaring Eyman to be a horse's ass isn't a proper subject for an initiative. It isn't legislative in nature, he said, and therefore is "outside the power given to the people." An initiative, the judge added, must be "for a purpose other than expressing a sentiment." Quote

AlpineK Posted March 16, 2003 Posted March 16, 2003 Dam, I was really looking forward to voting on that. Quote
glen Posted March 16, 2003 Posted March 16, 2003 Perhaps it should be amended that we, the people, have the right to legislate a sentiment. I mean, how different is that than changing French Fries to Freedom Fries? Quote

Fairweather Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 Aren't "horses", and "asses" two different subjects? I think the (drunken) Washington State Supreme Court would have had to rule this Seattle-Pansi inspired initiative unconstitutional. Quote
