Bill_Simpkins Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 (edited) In fact, there is granite bouldering IN Bellingham. If your clever, you'll find it. And 30-40 minutes from town, there is a lot of granite bouldering, not really great like Pemberton or Sqaumish, but it's there. It's called Mt. Erie. And yes, it is granitic Edited February 20, 2003 by Bill_Simpkins Quote
Mr._Natural Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 hey bill are you talkin about that erratic located somewhere in this image? ftp://ftp.cob.org/plan/2002airphotos/370306swlr.jpg Quote

erik Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 wheres the boulder? i see the thing you are talking about Quote
Mr._Natural Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 i don't think the rez is good enough to actually see it, I was just wondering if i was in the right neightborhood. Quote
Bill_Simpkins Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 I think I saw the boulder in the pic. But it's not the one I'm talking about. Keep guessing. A to the winner. I still owe you one Natural. Quote
Mr._Natural Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 ok, my last guess would in the proximity of silver beach. its not the spray paint magnet ajacent to i5 north, that aint in bham, but you know better than that. poor spelling can be attributeed to makers mark. Quote
Bill_Simpkins Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 In Bellingham I mean with 5-10 minutes. Yeah, it's not Graffitti rock. A hint will come tommorrow. Quote
max Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Is it that boulder that's on the east side of 32nd? I seem to rememeber the rock having been blasted away at for the version of the freeway that came before the freeway. TNT rock? Dynamite rock? Quote
layton Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 I found several granite boulders near the top of the clear-cut grassy knoll above lake padden! I did several "no-hands" sit-starts as they were only 1-3 feet tall. BTW, no hands bouldering is the ultimate in purity and anyone who does any other form of climbing is a jerk-off. Quote

COL._Von_Spanker Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Where in bellingham is that picture taken? And where is the secret granite bouldering? Quote

Mr._Natural Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 Bill, c'mon give it up. Hint or deets pleeze. Been back to that crack yet? Quote
Bill_Simpkins Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 I bet half of you have seen it or tried it. It's between the two most popular boulder spots near Bham. There is a shallow cave with an interesting looking problem right by it. As far as that crack Natural, havn't had the chance. I better get moving huh? Let's go! Quote
Mr._Natural Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 are you serious? between sehome and larabee? the arboretum tunnel? Quote

Bill_Simpkins Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 There is just one. Its by the water, but its huge, it was set there by a glacier. It's on a part of the beach many don't go to. There is a spooky overhang problem underneath it. It's kind-of near the Pink Wall. Quote
