DPS Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Does anybody have current conditions for the Cascade River Road? I know it is gated at MP 19, but is it drivable that far? Thanks. Quote
JasonG Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 I drove to the Hidden Lake turn off no problem Monday. Hit snow about 1900' and parked. Should be driveable to Eldo? Quote
Michael Telstad Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 @DPS If you go up there before this weekend I'd be very interested in hearing how far you can get. Quote
Eric Gilbertson Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 As of Sunday snow starts at milepost 13. It's continuous and too deep for a forester for the next mile, then patchy discontinuous with long melted out sections til milepost 17.5. Then continuous the rest of the way to cascade pass trailhead. Quote
wbk Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 (edited) Bump on this thread - anyone know if Cascade river road is open to Eldo yet? Or beyond? Thanks NPS as of June was still closed at MP18. https://www.nps.gov/noca/planyourvisit/road-conditions.htm Edited July 7, 2021 by wbk Quote
genepires Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 heard there was major road damage due to flooding during the heat wave. creeks coming off of boston basin took out the road but that is upstream of eldo TH. Quote
NikiY Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 It was not open as of last weekend and I heard it's probably not going to open this summer. I took a mountain bike up the road (and a friend took a touring bike which managed okay) and honestly the road seems to be mostly repaired. There were a couple of rocky sections but nothing a sedan couldn't handle. I went as far as the Boston Basin trailhead. It was closed about 4.5 miles from Boston Basin btw. Quote
