Necronomicon Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Looks like squamish. The handhold looks familiar, and it's well-traveled from the chalk. Pitch 2 of Squamish Butttress? Quote

Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 and here is one for DFA altho i bet the double rope and helmet confuses him. Judging by the chossy-looking rock and thick coating of green lichen, how about Hippos On Ice? (Understand, of course, that positive route ID is somewhat difficult with such a lo-res image.) Quote

Necronomicon Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 It's the 5.8 in the corner, just to the right of the 5.6 handcrack, I don't have the gude right in front of me so no name. Quote
Off_White Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Here's one, dig those bell bottoms, eb's, and impeccable 1977 trad style. Here's a hint: there is a published picture of Jim Bridwell leading this route in roughly this location (though from a different perspective and not dangling) Quote
Dru Posted February 6, 2003 Author Posted February 6, 2003 none of them are a 5.8 next to a 5.6 and DFA is wrongwrong wrong and the image had to be shrunk that much to be an attachment!!! also it is not on christian bros. what about the basalt one anybody get that yet? Quote

chucK Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Is the basalt one at Smiff? Looks like too much vegetation for Vantage. Quote
Off_White Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Yes Dru, he was. My sloppiness with file name should push you over the edge of success, even without searching your library for that venerable tome... Quote

Off_White Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Dru's basalt one looks Vantage like to me: Smith basalt is blacker, and Tieton is different rock. Could be some other piece of desert rimrock out around Warm Springs, but that stuff wouldn't have the traffic... Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 OK, more hints, then. Is the rock actually as licheny and chossy as it looks in the photo? And if it's in the Marsupials or something, all bets are off. Is it on the back side? Quote
rbw1966 Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Looks like the marsupials as Smith. Thin Air? Quote
