  4. Wow, this just simply amazes me, and in CA no less, the birthplace of this nation's modern protest movements. Reminds me of police actions before the Watts riots and during the VN War protests. How do these LEOs come off thinking this is acceptable behavior? Please don't give me the "they're just doing their job" excuse. Beating up on unarmed, non-threatening, barely-past-pubescence young adults is not "doing their job" IMO. Very, very sad... Follow the cop that started it, the second one from the left, helmet #114 (it appears to read - can't really make it out). He's the only one who goes on non-stop beating through the whole video. It's as if he actually enjoys this form of employment...

Give the law time. In the future the law will change to allow smaller stores. Don't expect home runs. A lot of base hits is a good strategy. The new law ALREADY allows for smaller stores. Please review the thread, or the legislation. Either one, it'll tell you the same thing. Huh? I did read the initiative and the thread. What I am talking about is this 10,000 foot rule will probably be eliminated in the future. I understand where there are NO 10,000 foot stores, then there are exceptions…but this 10,000 foot rule will probably be eliminated in some time to allow for more competition. Sorry, Stefan, I guess I misread the part in your post where you said "...the law will change to allow smaller stores...". Since the law already does allow them, I could not process your comment in any other way other than to assume that you thought the law did not allow for smaller stores. My apologies for not understanding what you wrote.

  12. I'm certanly no expert, and I climb nowhere near as prolificly as you, Mike, but when I'm confronted with the "off-fist" sized crack, I do a variation of stacking my feet to prepare for the hand reset. It looks really goobery: feet together, sole-to sole (as much as possible), toes-in, with an odd twist to the legs since I don't do yoga. It hurts the inside of my thighs like hell, but you only have to hold it long enough to reset the hands, then scooch up a little and repeat. The tops of your feet (mostly) are in contact with the crack walls. Spreading your heels apart can get you a little more opposition in flares. FYI, I use high-top shoes, which helps for this technique. Like boadman sez, progress is measured in inches...

'cuz looking at the typical costco customer and their tick-fat cracker clan accompanying them (and sweet jesus, there's no way not to be swarmed by them like a naked virgin mary in a zombie wedding fantasy) makes me feel like maybe i should go home and put a shotgun in my mouth? Oh, I hear ya, friend. Fuq'n frightening to be sure. When I shop Costco, I have a battle plan mapped out ahead of time, and head directly to business, always looking straight ahead, never making eye contact with the Blutos running amok. And stay away from the free sample stations. Navigating around them is like trying to head upstream through a buffalo stampede...

I just renewed my Costco membership this past weekend. At $50/year, with Costco gas selling for about $0.25/gallon less than other stations in town ($3.559 v $3.799), and given my driving patterns, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that my membership dues are paid for by my savings on gasoline purchases in about 9 months of normal driving. If I take my rig on road trips, the savings pay me back even faster. So why not have a Costco membership already?

The average grocery store (Freddie's, Safeway, Albertson's, etc.) sits on about 40,000 to 60,000 SF. Ten thousand square feet would be a store approximately 100 feet by 100 feet. Surely, you can imagine that? By way of comparison, my local WSLCB store is about 2,000 SF (estimated as 60 FT of frintage by 30 feet of depth).

Looks like there'll be a period leading up to the transfer where selection will suck Sobo. Better stock up on Nighttrain! ;-) Oh, yes, I saw that train (no pun intended) comin'! Already ahead of there, Holmes. And for the record, Wild Irish Rose is my "stockpile" wine of choice...
