  1. Uhhhh, not on a Molenaar original. No way, dude. Um, that would be me, no? Wanna send 'em back? Cheers, Steve. I'm off now.
  2. My son drooled all over my wife's cell phone. It stopped working. Well, maybe not completely. But she couldn't dial anyone with a 5, 7, 9, or * in their number.
  3. Yeah, that's what Dan - does with his extras.
  4. Right, got it. Sorry, ya'll, for any negative implications that I may have put forth regarding the ushba screws. I stand corrected.
  5. I doubt that a consignment store for kids goods would have that sort of specialized stuff, but I would try: Play It Again Sports, or something along that line, or a "ski swap" in your area. The NSP usually is the "sponsor/charity" that puts those things on. Call 'em and see if one is scheduled in your area.
  6. Caveman, I visited the sites you ref'ed. Thanks for the clarifications. Things really seemed to have changed surrounding Ti screws recently. Perhaps I may have been thinking of the ibrus Russian Ti ice screw as the lesser screw. I don't believe that they are certified by any climbing governing agency. And google didn't find them, either. Are you familiar with the ibrus brand?
  7. I believe you are mistaking this ice screw for older versions made in the past that are not UIAA approved. Possibly. And you're right. None are currently available on eBay, but they show up pretty regularly this time of year. Agreed on both counts, but I was proceeding from the assumption that jstreet was thinking of selling it off as *ice* climbing equipment, rather than *climbing* equipment. My bad. FWIW, I would never want to take a clean-air leader fall on a Ti ice screw. Shit, I'd never want to take a clean-air leader fall on any ice screw!
  8. Yeeeeeesh, another one of my harmless posts deleted. I guess I'll just stay out of this Draconian forum.
  9. Hah! You've got a FURPS! Fucking Russian Piece of Shit! Save it for when you have to bail off a climb. That's why they're called "leavers". And you can get 'em for about $10 used on eBay.

Queen of Spray? Chicken of the Sea? The Mighty Bone? Fahq, Bone, just go ahead and get the spinnaker and race her. Worry about "not being so suck" later. Some of the best times I had in club racing was when we WERE so suck. No pressure on you then. You can just get drunk and sail, and no one cares, as long as you don't cut across someone on a starboard tack (or run into the committee boat ).
  11. Hey, Steve: You already got a set of vintage Coonyard hexes of mine... you wanker.
  12. EXACTLY! It's what I've been on about all along. I like my ARVA, and I'm fast and good with it. I have practiced with it enough to do just what Nick pointed out.
  13. It's how steak is done! But did you read the part about how the guy wanted his penis cut off while he was still alive!!??

  15. This is just sick and wrong. It's hard to believe, but apparently true. Safe for work (no graphics).

Niiiiiice. Nothing like a "Toilet Seat 30" for fun on the waves. I used to race with the Ozone with Ken Marks and John Lietzinger, before they sold it and bought an Express 37 (Kahuna). Did SIN 2002 and WIRW 2002 last eyar with the Kahuna. Adult summer camp!

Looks like an Olson 30. Is that your boat?
  18. Speaking of Dee Molenaar and brushes with greatness, have you seen his personal copy of his book "The Challenge of Rainier"? He took the first copy off the press and for years carried it with him to any lecture or meeting were mountaineers were present. It's full of signatures of climbers like Hillary, Tenzing, Shipton, O'Dell, Bonatti, Messner and so on. I met Dee at a lecture and book signing for "Cascade Voices" by Mac Bates. To my surprise, he asked me to sign his Rainier book. In my copy of "Cascade Voices" he wrote above his picture: "To a younger generation role model, Berg Heil!" Boy, that made me feel good. Dee came to Yakivegas a few years back (his old stomping grounds, ya know) and I met him at a climber's meeting, along with Bill Mahre, and a lot of their old cronies. Dee had brought along a bunch of his paintings, and lithos/prints of same. I "wrestled" with him for a bit over an original watercolor of Rainier (the north side) that he had brought along that he had painted eons before. He wasn't keen on selling the original, but he finally relented and sold it to me for a couple Franklins. He penned a nice parting note on the back of the picture. It hangs with pride in my little corner of our living room, next to my climbing library. I bought my used Volants from Phil Mahre, Olympic gold medalist downhiller from 1984.
  19. THought you were heading to SLC
  20. Nice site, EricP! How do I score a gig like that where you can drive around the country for 18 months and climb anything you want?
