Yeah, you get the wrong shit, and this stuff can cripple you. If you've got flat feet, get some custom insoles (superfeet or whatever, I don't think it matters) and get them fitted by someone who knows what's up. I like FootZone, up on Cap Hill. If you don't have flat feet, don't fix what isn't broken. Trusting REI to treat your feet right is about as smart as trusting those boneheads' climbing gear recommendations.

So an early climbing mentor of mine rolled into town this week on her way up to Denali. She called in favors and stole my big fat Feathered Friends puffy down jacket (worth more than my POS car). A different bastard already stole my BACKUP puffy for his attempt on the West Butt. This month, two of my jackets will be climbing Denali while I'm stuck here. When they come back, both jackets are going to stink like someone else's farts. Damnit.

I would rather have a better palette of candidates to choose from, but I'll take Kerry over Bush. Yes, Kerry is a weak, vacilating candidate that was chosen precisely because he was less strident/polarizing than his opponents. That problem lies with our primary system- on both sides of the liberal/conservative fence. Don't tell me there weren't better men than Bush on the Republicann's 2000 ticket (McCain, for one).

That is the question. Only the Shadow knows.

There's not a single person in my acquaintance who is on the fence for the upcoming election. The people who will vote for Bush, will vote for Bush. The people who will vote against Bush will for Kerry. Aside from highly graphic photos of Kerry duct-taping lemmings, no amount of mud-slinging will induce the 'liberals' into voting for Bush. Likewise, short of Jesus coming down from On High and publicly embracing Kerry, I don't see any 'conservatives' voting for Kerry. Both parties should save their PAC money, invest in (fiscally) conservative bonds, and focus on the 2008 elections. That way I can enjoy my re-run sitcoms without being bothered by all this annoying political stuff.
