  1. WEDDERS GOOD IN THE SIERRAS CAN YOU TAKE A MONTH OFF By Fred Beckey chapert 1: How's da wedder? chapter 2: Wedders no good? chapter 3: huh!? chapter 4: How's da wedder? Chapter 5: We should bivy Chapter 5: turn to page one and repeat
  2. I scoped out porcupine peak a couple years ago. There's actually some cool climbable features on it, including a very solid looking wall with cracks on it. I think I approached via swamp creek and skirted below the ribs and walls. Cool place, worth someone else checking it out
  3. alpental ice will make anyone want to move.... ....away.
  4. I wouldn't take a fish oil supplement with a mercury free claim and something to back that claim up
  5. I'm not looking to relocate (anytime soon at least). But yeah, Seattle is pretty damn sweet. It is the most beautiful city in America with the most beautiful mountain range in the lower 48. The after work climbing scene does suck as does the late fall-early spring climbing season. But when you do bag a climb in that time - it's more rewarding than any classic route in the rockies.
  6. Mammoth would be pretty sweet...but I do believe that those days are over where it's affordable to live there. You could live in Bishop...but...ug. Bozeman sounds fantastic, and seems up there with Flagstaff but maybe better job opps and much cheaper living. the big problem i see with Bozeman is you're pretty isolated to the immediate area compared with places like SLC or Boulder. No one's mentioned Vegas. It's actually a pretty f'in nice place to live if you disqualify the strip scene.
  7. As far as I've studied, high grade pharmaceutical fish oil (Omega-3 fatty acids) at a dose of 3 or more grams per day is pretty much the "super-supplement". Besides reducing over-all body inflammation, it's a huge anti-oxidant, fights cancer, fights brain disease, fights heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, improves glucose tolerance and fights diabetes... the list goes on and on. If you are going to take anything besides a good general multivitamin, I'd recommend fish-oils.
  8. well goddamnit bring your fucking camera and hike a little higher next time
  9. Wish I could join you but 7pm is too early for me to show up
  10. nevermind that... how do you know what files to select? i've got a whole bunch of VTS_01_0 - VTS_01_4 all about one gig each
  11. didn't beckey do that in winter?
  12. i'd rather pay 40 bucks than do that! but thanks for the offer and tip on not being able to find any freeware. does it also convert to apple ipod?
  13. looks sweet. know of any free ones?
  14. Anyone know a good program (for PC) that can convert a DVD to an avi file for video editing? I've got some slideshows I put on dvd and want to edit/combine them.
  15. Add a wheat allergy and adrenal fatigue with a dose of fluoride, and you've got a megadose of 1st world afflictions!

    Hey PDXers

move to inner NE portland, the area is nice, it's gentrifying and houses are still affordable. Also look into St. John's. Actually, just look at St. Johns. Best place IMHO. Vancouver and all surrounding suburbs of PDX really blow

    Hey PDXers

meth is way cheaper there due to the close proximity to the manufacturer. There may even be an outlet store behind the outlet stores

    grown up question

    damn
  19. You might be right, but Portland should be on the top 25. There is plenty of local climbing, although it does kinda suck. Smith and trout creek aren't too far and the season there is a lot better than vantage or leavenworth. Plus it's a very pretty town (for the most part) NE and the burbs are fugly. And I do remember going ice climbing up fairly huge routes 20 min from my house every year i lived there (for a couple days at least!). It's a good place to buy a house and raise a family. But it sacrifices much on the best climbing town categories I listed.

    grown up question

what does O.A.C. financing mean? I could find the definition on the web
  21. europe seems like an amazing place for an extended vacation, but also seems like a giant seattle. not great place to find a job and buy a house. girls seems like they're way hotter there, however!
  22. Seattle has more than it's share of stuck-up, anal retentive, yuppie types looking for the big $$ too
  23. culture is what you want i guess. I think there's two camps, the non-settled down type, and the settled down. Smaller mtn towns are difficult places to live for a long period of time if your not steadily employed, retired, married, etc... I should have added a job market/affordability factor. I'm curious about flagstaff. I looked at schools there back in the day, and I do remember it being absolutely beautiful. I reminds me of bellingham and missoula...both great great towns to live in and close to climbing....but job-wise, it's pretty bleak. Oh, and this is just a curiosity thread, I'm not looking for a place I think is the best...just in general. Seemed like a good thread topic.
