  1. Hiked up to CP lot today. Avalanche debris is the largest I've seen in the past 5 years. Lots of trees across the road. I wouldn't plan on an early opening. 3-5' of snow on the trail up to CP. GR
  2. As stated often here... do a search first on CC. The cascade river road is open to the Eldorado gate at approx mp 20/21. I'm headed that way today, so more later, but I wouldn't expect the road to fully open until 4th of July. GR
  3. 873-4590 mp 20 (eldo lot) 170,000 acres per person, I'll try and keep an eye on every bit of it for ya..

    eldorado

MP 16 is the latest I've heard. I'll try and keep you updated.
  5. WS- You da man..
  6. checked out the new petzl Elios Class helmet at FF. Much like the BD halfdome except 100g lighter, $20 cheaper, and a cool adjusta knob on the back. Looked pretty slick. Anyone heard anything different? (Next time I break my helmet, I just might replace it with this one...)

    Tokosha beta?

Anyone been to the Tokosha Range? Good place to spend 3 weeks in May? References, articles?
  8. Is there an index for AAJ after 1986? Where can I get one? Thanks
  9. Same deal - I'd love to head to AK, but am headed south if no reply. g
  10. DB- We went in from Access creek last summer and it was pretty cruiser getting to Luna Lake. I have some pics I'll try and send you when I get back from CO. gr
  11. oops, july 02, my bad..
  12. 'bout time you bought a beacon.. or did the last one get buried at Alpental.
  13. BonBon.. I'm driving up from Oly, you can easily drag Yurassis over from the e-side. g
  14. OK I'm posting, but only cause I had to come back early from Lil' Wet. Why post when Bonbon, Beck, little Mikey from North Bend, and Eric/k have spray down to an art. Plus Mattp still thinks it's a conspiracy when Gator and I try and hook him up with bad beta... cheers.. (still no Pioneer Ridge Beta... Berdinka? Fortier? Skoog? Beckey?)
  15. Anyone been up Pioneer Ridge? (Not in Winter you watusi rodeo clowns) Tell me about it... (I have a question about a project that the Skoogs probably have already done)
  16. Hey all. Wannabe climbing bum trying to decide if I should hunker down for March and April or move to Smith/ J-tree and live in my truck. Anyone need a roomie for a few months?garomer@aol is better than PM Thanks, Geordie
  17. Just got back from week long trip myself. Cascade, Grotto, Haffner, Junkyards all worth checking out. Ice may be thin for the Canadian Rockies, but CC folks will find plenty to do. GR
  18. We're all going to Banff...
  19. MH Venti-gaiters. What was I thinking? I wear gaiters most days throughout the summer, mostly to keep the snow and mud out. The vent was an interesting idea- too bad they didn't add any gaiters. they were hard to put on and the tension on the snap had them coming undone all too often. I through them in the garbage- wanted to take them back to the store, but figured my blood pressure didn't need me to go ballistic about them any more. Back to OR..
  20. I did what I've been doing the last month or two. Spent the nights guarding Grand Coulee Dam from terrorists. Since I was up all night and the weather was clear, the Leonids were quite spectacular. Looking forward to coming home after two months here. No sign of Banks Lake ice, not nearly cold enough. Just rain today. Get some climbin in for me...g
  21. In response to Courtney's feelings that lat pulls won'r help with pull ups, I've had the opposite experience. For those of us cursed with a paucity of pull up genes, lat pull machines can let you work at "sub pullup" weights. I've never gotten better at pullups by doing sets of 1 or 2, but working with the lat pull machine helped me get to sets of 7-9 pullups. gr
  22. Beck- that's two dates now! we're all a little sceptical.. I vote for the PVI in Rockport since I drove down to Seattle last time.. g
  23. Has anyone done this route? Is it "destined to be a classic" as per Fred, or...
  24. The bushwack isn't that bad (try marble creek instead..) The camp in terror basin is one of my favorites - nice running water, pretty flowers, durable gravel surface, decent views. enjoy.
