  1. This is how he always behaves. When I first joined this site, I swore to myself that I was going to avoid this part of the site like the plague. After 5 1/2 years working in DC you would have thought I had learned my lesson, but here I am.
  2. So if you are not part of the 47% why are your panties in such a twist? It would be like me getting all bent out of shape about Obama's "Sticking to their guns and religion" quote. People are too thin skinned
  3. so long as you're dogging on hispanics, might as well look down south to ole mexico, where in fact they have extremly strict term limit rules - has it done much to fix corruption? conventional wisdom is it hasn't, and might in fact even have increased it, since 1-term wonders have no time to learn, are more likely to take orders from the machine, and are far more dependent on that machine to take care of them... my dad was an o-5, and that seems a reasonable pay for a congressman It seems like a damned if you do and damned if you don't. On one hand you get someone who is on top of things and is doing great and then is out. On the other hand you get an idiot who keeps getting re-elected because the people they represent are retards.
  4. What about corporations? The workers get taxed on their salaries, then the business itself is taxed. I'd mention the military paying federal taxes that essentially goes towards paying the military, but like I said before we are all pretty much in that 47%.
  5. I'm all for it, except the fact that we aren't working in the United States. I'm not 100% sure, but I think even civilians working outside of the states are tax free to some extent. And, I am in that 47%, I'd like to see a set flat tax. EVERYONE pays X%. Personally, if I were emperor of the US, federal elected officials would make the same base pay that the troops get on the same pay scale starting at say O-5. Give them term limits and that tax free for life shit is gone. They also wouldn't be exempted from bills they force on us.
  6. So he basically speaks the truth, that 47% of people in this country don't really pay taxes (though he did say it like an asshole, but fuck it, the truth hurts sometimes) and people are pissed off? Go figure... You know what I LOVE about my job, is that if I am fucked up, someone will straight up tell me to my face, "Hey you are fucked up." I can either cry about it like you or I can drive on and try to fix myself. You sound like you are trying to fix yourself by going to school so get over it, suck in your boo boo lip and drive on. And the racist comments? Again, the truth hurts! I grew up in CA on a dairy, guess what, the Mexicans ARE a problem. I have lived in VA, NC, SC and GA and guess what the blacks are a problem... (PG County Maryland and SE DC comes to mind. ATL is another) In WA it seems most people dislike the Natives. I guess if I was ever stationed in Nebraska I'd be saying that the Whites are a problem. I dunno. Now that I think of it, I did live next to W.VA and those are some off the wall hillbillie fucks, and they are most DEF a problem.

    RIP 9/11

To conceal weakspots in the buildings defenses, sensitive areas uncovered because of the huge gapping hole in the building, keeping the ID's of who is going in and out hidden, to not show what security practices and techniques were inplace, any other number of reasons. Or, that it was so apparent as to what hit the side of the building that they aren't needed. Do you know what it takes to launch a missile? How many people? Your entire argument is based off of the thought that our Gov is competant enough to pull this off and to keep THOUSANDS of people that would have had to be involved in this to pull it off quiet.

If this is how going to college makes you think, I'm glad I joined the Army.

    RIP 9/11

Who could even believe that our .Gov was capable of pulling that off without getting caught?
  11. I have been using the Nikwax in the squeeze tube and it seems like after every time I use my boots I have to reapply. I guess I am using this stuff to keep the leather from drying out and cracking. Is sno seal a permanent treatment like silicon or something?
  12. Anyone Nikwax their leather boots? I have a pair of Scarpa's that I have been using Nikwax on, but it seems that after every outing I have to re-apply. Is this pretty standard? Is there something better out there? What is everyone else's opinions on leather treatments?
  13. That is awesome, and those are awesome pics dude! Freakin impressive on both accounts.
  14. Nah, OWS'ers are too busy bitching about not having anything to get a job, let alone serving.
  15. The fact that only one of us is familiar with any of these terms says more about your lifestyle than mine. We had to hip up to the lingo after Sep. 20th
  16. Ya, indiscriminate. We got denied close air support because of cows.
  17. Sir, you might like it where I work. Dude I got plenty o time beating feet up and down Ardennes! Need to go out for some next time I go out there TDY though.
  18. That is the problem, we are fighting a war we aren't really allowed to fight. We can't have any collateral damage, our ROE is so restrictive it is sickening. This war isn't being run by commanders, it is being run by politicians and lawyers. We are so wrapped up in no one gets hurt, it is hurting us. My back and my knees kill me now because of the gear I have had to wear. Thankfully where I work now I get to pick and choose what I wear and I am not forced to cover every square inch of my body in shit that just weighs me down and makes me less mobile. I feel sorry for most of the regular Army guys.
  19. I have been torn on the whole draft thing. You get the guys who either talk a big talk about being a badass but won't take the effort to join or the guys who criticize the war and how the troops act in combat. Either of the two, but especially the latter, it would be nice for them to walk the walk. With that said, I have 13 years in now and really really don't want to deal with a bunch of d-bags that really don't want to be there. Especially with the PC, everyone gets a trophy, touchy feely Military we have now. I already have to deal with guys not wanting to be in and we have an all volunteer Army. Bring back wall to wall counseling and it might change my mind a bit.
  20. "we" aren't at war, America's military is at war. Everyone else in this country is at the mall.
  21. Yocum, I think I saw you when you got to Muir and were at the Ranger hut. Wasn't sure though so I didn't come over and introduce myself... That and it was really far away (50 feet) LOL. Awesome work, I enjoy reading your TR and pictures. Luke, I ran into you just above the top of the cleaver when you were coming down.
  22. Our weapons are more expensive now and our troops are better equiped. Second question... Been asking the same thing.
  23. Just wait until you start tying flies. My wife looks at me like a crack head as I stand in the store comparing two different shades of pink maribou and checking them for their "fluffines." And I don't even fly fish anymore.
  24. Gamefishin is all I know of. I'll ask my buddy though, he is big into the fly fishing.
  25. Matt, thanks for the link! That might be my new favorite website.
