  1. Fantastic Dallas! There was a thread a few weeks back that got me thinking of Split Rock and the Summer I spent many years ago tracking it down and working the maze of logging roads. The previous posting regarding the area caused me to dig out old photos and took a trip down memory lane. Thank you for this post. It is great to see the man who inpsired me and my buddy to seek it out doing it all again. Thanks Dallas for all your work and contributions to the climbing community over the last fifty years.
  2. What a fantastic looking trip! Thanks for sharing all those stoke inducing, quality photos!
  3. Nice job man! We were looking over at Squire Creek Wall on Saturday wondering why the heck we were not on Olympus until the rain started and then I was glad we were not. Way to get it in despite the weather. Cheers man!
  4. Hey Dave, Here you go. Found Pole @ SQ Trailhead On a side note. I emailed a while back about getting a copy of the new Rattle and Slime. Can you PM with details on how to get one of those from you. Thanks, Tyson
  5. It was indeed fun! Just curious. I am glad it was crowded up there on Saturday as it forced me to get on something new to me.
  6. I do not have a guide that covers Revolver. Can someone tell me what the ratings are on the first four pitches? Thanks.
  7. If you were one of the parties on the North Buttress on Saturday, I have some photographs of your group that you may be interested in. Particularly the party on Total Soul.

  9. Very Cool! Rainman is correct in his assertion. There is a lot to offer in the valleys for anyone with a taste for adventure. Way to go!
  10. I have never heard it called Equinox rock. Are you referring to what was once called Split Rock? I spent an entire Summer years back linking roads and pouring over old maps until my partner at the time Bruce Bauer and I found Split Rock. We did a climb called Fat Mans Terror or something like that it went up through a cool spelunking type crawl through chimney. There was/is a huge split throught this bigger than house sized boulder that had some VERY steep walls on the alley or split. It was pretty mossy up in there and pretty slick too. All the boulders around the vicinity of the Split Rock did indeed have pretty poor landings. There were other glacial erratics in the woods of the side of the roads leading into the area that had some potential. I think I have some photos I will try to dig up but if this site actually lets me upload them is a different story. I am not sure one could drive up there anymore and it would be a heck of a walk in...miles and miles, but I do know that my dual sport equipped buddies have no problems getting there. It has been over 15 years since I have been there so I would have to look at a map or talk to my buddy to get my bearings straight again.
  11. As far as favorite conversation pieces goes, then this is it,for me:
  12. Slider Ball Nut - I dig the whole design and look. It also fits the small seams oh so well.
  13. Someone earlier in the thread alluded to sackn' up and learning to drink your beer warm. I wholeheartedly agree with this idea. I personally have inbibed in only warm beer (barring those well placed at camp) while in the mountains for as long as I can remember. My reasons are - 1)If you have to carry the weight (all the way) you (may) bring less and get something done or not. 2)Considering some of the beer thieving associates that I keep company with, I dare not let my beer out of my own safe keeping and risk the loss to those heathens let alone stash it and have a stranger steal it.
  14. Now that is a SLIDE! WOW!
  15. I am looking for an opportunity to expand my image portfolio. Not that I have a ton of free time right now, and aside from the fact that I am out climbing on my own when I do have the time. I would like to photograph others while they climb. So specifically I will take photographs for anyone that wishes to have a specific project documented or what not in exchange for the climbers setting a fixed line or whatever rigging (with my help) and let me focus on my systems and taking photographs. I have been shooting for a longtime but I would like to get a little more serious about it and I need the practice with getting some fresh (for me) angles and perspective. So, if you have a project and want some images of you on it or some shots of yourself that are not the ones you normally get of your butt taken by your partner as you are ropegunning, let me know! For a small sample of my work you can check out a slide show here : One Mans Mountain Adventures
  16. Nice Ivan! This was a great read. No pictures of the girls at the top though? Ouch man! Makes it kind of hard to beleive. Cheers for salvaging the trip and avoiding the chopping block.
