  1. Ya that is why I said bad because its a high of something like 40 F at Snoqualmie pass itself.
  2. Bad(?) I haven't been up there in a while though.
  3. "Maybe you could do a mini-fundraiser. A "lemonade" stand in the climbers lot? I bet you'd have that t-shirt in no time! " If by "lemonade" you mean beer you are correct indeed. I'm not sure that is legal though.
  4. I don't have a lot of experience on stationary bikes per se. But I do have a lot of miles on a real bike. It is really hard to do something wrong on a bike, espesially if you aren't on an elite level. For climbing edurance is key, so pile on the mileage (careful about the knee though).
  5. Love the shirt too. Well, I am stingy. I would drop ~30 on the shirt (inflated price presumed to go to the cause). Go for volume.
  6. "How about mental fitness? While watching some of the documentary "Summit on the Summit", I recalled how much of a surprise it can be to newbies that a significant portion of the experience is suffering with wet gear, cold hands and toes, fatigue, physical pain, self doubt, fear of failure etc. Good partners (or guides) will help overcome some of these issues but in the end it may come down to confidence in your preparation and mental toughness." The only way to overcome this is by climbing, preferably in tough conditions, with people you trust.
  7. Nice work- I like that you consider this a short climb with that approach.
  8. You would avoid the crowds.
  9. Without knowing the route in detail, I'd venture to say WA.
  10. "anyways I was wondering why you were carrying a 65lb pack?" Ya I agree. Let the crushing commence. Most people can probably get under 40 #.
  11. And just to chime in with my biased opinion, I think cycling is an incredible way to train for climbing. I've used cycling to train for everything from half ironman triathlons to marathons and climbs. It really is great because it is low impact.
  12. If anything I'd substitute the intensity training for endurance 2-3 hour aerobic workouts.
  13. "i'd be very interested to know this..." Me too!
  14. snell- Short of an altitude tent and extending your intensity cardio intervals I think you got it covered.
  15. Did you know the answer to this question when you asked it? (just wondering)
  16. The Mighty Tooth! Correct. That is with a triple circumnavigation with simultaneous ascents and decents.
  17. Personally I like to over-train. So I want to make Rainier not just possible but pleasant. Better to suffer now than later in my book.
  18. Ramone Rock- at Stevens pass. ~5.8.
  19. Medicsandy- Why are you even on this site? You live in Ohio.
  20. Birddog- "And oh yes sunmmitchaser - medicsandy was inquiring about Muir not a climbing permit as link shows." Read this except from the link- "40% of all camping slots are held aside for those who come to the mountain without reservations." That link directly addressed the question about needing camping reservations.
  21. I don't know why you wouldn't just check the national park website. But different strokes for different folks.
  22. "I attempted another steeper route up the NE face of Wheeler Pk in Nevada - lost 3 ropes" Epic.
