Pain from metalwork/Pilon fracture

Oouch! That would take the most severe impact between all three types. Just curious, how did you fall? Did you deck? Good luck on recovery. -

This is not true. There are three types of the Pilon fracture and based on your description, you seem to have a type 2 (both fibia and tibia) Do follow up with the PT but do not be surprised if you would still be walking with "a parrot on your shoulder" after it is done. What I found worked best for me was to attend the classes in the local gym like step aerobics (for this particular type of the injury). This way you have much more motivation to be like everyone else in a shorter period of time as opposed to one on one situation with your PT. -

Yes, the term "bilateral" refers to the both extremities (right and left). Your case is unilateral (either right or left). -

In 2006, Nikki White died at age 32 but "she didn’t die from lupus,” [says] her doctor, Amylyn Crawford. “Nikki died from complications of the failing American health care system.” http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/13/opinion/13kristof.html

Are you the majority?

Same applies to the medical field: feeding suckers of the administrative personnel from the so hard to get federal funding on top of the so-called "overhead costs" which are 30%! Could somebody enlighten me on this one? The money that no one sees?

Is your name Pope John-Paul II?

At least I am contributing to our survival but we need to breed faster, stronger and harder... FYI: interesting book - "DARWIN'S RACISTS - YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW" by S. Sebastian. "Very, very Christian, biblical worldview: and nothing objectionable.[The book] exposes the real Charles Darwin: a racist, a bigot and 1800's naturalist whose legacy is mass murder. This well written book shows that Adolf Hitler, along with other genocidal mass murderers, was influenced by Darwin's half-baked Theory of Evolution. This book exposes Darwin's Theory of Evolution for what it is: an elitist and racist dogma that has infiltrated our every area of culture thereby undermining sense and sensibility."

I live in a country where major film distributors would not show a biographic motion picture about Charles Darwin. Need I say more? I guess I will. My financial plan: invest in cave real estate and stone tool technology now. It will be really hot 20-30 years down the road but I am not sure if we will last that long. Paraphrasing: those who deny evolution should be consistent in their beliefs and obtain healthcare in cave hospitals by cavemen doctors with herbal remedies the development of which did not depend on research.

5.10c actually - due to the ongoing erosion - and is not that bad after the first bolt. First move: bouldering jump to the jug and then traverse to the left below the first bolt. -

No injuries are the same. I also have a titanium plate in the joint since 2002 and it is going to stay in there otherwise I was told I would develop an osteochondrosis after the age of 50. Pain was unmerciful for a month but subsided afterward and full flexibility was regained after 4 months. -

Hard to say without looking at your X-rays but ask your doctor. -
Sounds familiar… This is how they cover up their asses but it is not as bad as you think. What they are after is somebody else involved in your injury to get their money from by means of lawsuit or car/boat insurance claims (via “personal injury protection” EVEN in the recreational sports activity - I was in denial for a long time but it is the case). This is their business and if they have time and money to do that, let them. You will be covered by your policy on the timely basis regardless of their decision. So yes I would go ahead and pick the second option in the subrogation.

Blue Shield have a good reputation in the PNW so stick them if you can.

Stay healthy or die. However, "a British film about Charles Darwin has failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences, according to its producer": http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/6173399/Charles-Darwin-film-too-controversial-for-religious-America.html Even the arch-conservative Pope John-Paul II accepted the Darwin's theory of evolution! How are we to maintain a leading role in the world if our understanding of science is medieval, at best?

Do you know that gal in the photo? Maybe a number? I know she would not have time for the admirers. What you see is what she does 24-7. -
I work in the medical school myself and also happened to sustain a few major fall injuries (not climbing related though) a few years back, so here is my two cents. Although I do have a group health insurance through my employer, the co-pay is still an out of pocket expense that does add up in the long run. If this Assurent do not lie to you and would indeed cover your climbing injuries for 40$ a month (on top of the regular premium, right?), you got yourself a deal! Yes, 10K is not enough for serious injuries like neck or spinal injuries (these would run 50K each) but the probability of getting them in rock climbing is rather slim as opposed to more frequently fractured ankles, wrists etc. or torn ligaments/tendons. So think about that. On the positive note, the 10K would cover the usual suspect injuries (including metalwork!) if you make right decisions on how and where to get medical help. 1. Try to avoid the ER visits and ambulance calls as much as you can. These two are the major money suckers which is getting worse and worse every day. Go straight to either Orthopedics (bones) or Trauma (soft tissue damage and ligaments/tendons) department with an X-ray facility on site and without an appointment (or get somebody on call, if out of hours, preferably not a resident) and insist they deal with you right away. REMEMBER: you have this right and they cannot turn you away. 2. You have right to choose the type of anaesthesia (another significant chunk on the medical bill). The prep IV is an absolute waste, for instance. 3. Rehab PT: two sessions max. Just learn the exercises and do it yourself. You do not need someone with a whip to tell you what to do three times a week for a few months. 4. Ask Assurent if they work with preferred and non-preferred providers. If they do, it might save you some money too. I hope this helps. PM me if you have more questions. NIL DESPERANDUM!

That's a funny statement coming from someone who reads Huffingtonpost to stay informed. I do not have the online subscription to the WSJ.

PUBLIC OPTION is the only market-based solution to keep pressure on private insurers against keeping the American people hostage to conspiratorial corporate greed. Whoever does not understand that has JELLO for brains. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/11/head-count-house-progress_n_283756.html

Depends on your pain tolerance.

Yes, and preferably with a heavy pack on! BTW, regular running is very injury-prone so why don't you get her a nice and fast road bike? I am so glad I have one. Great for occasional transportation too. Boring, boring but still better than a garden cultivator I received for my anni a few years back!
