Looking for someone to climb with in Hyalite this week or next for some mixed climbing and ice as well. Cheers!
-
Looking to travel from Seattle to Canmore to climb some multipitch ice the first or second week of April. I lead to WI4 and follow harder. Can drive but can also split gas. Open to staying in the hostel or camping. Cheers!

Does anyone have a prediction as to when Hwy 20 will be opening this year? I am out of state and out of touch!

I have found Moving Comfort is the best option (and cheapest) for fuller-figured climbers. Patagonia doesn't have much support. I will usually take off the bra after approaches but sleep with it on the night before an early start, because putting on a sportsbra with some degree of modesty in the dark in a sleeping bag with -10 temps can be problematic.

I've been limping along with my old heavy multitool. What is everyone out there taking on alpine climbs?

Has anyone been up on or around Greybeard since the road opened?

Thanks, John. That doesn't stop anyone from going to Cody!

woohoo! way to go! thanks for the pics.

I am looking to ride out to Hyalite or Cody with someone going for 4-5 days sometime this month or early next. I will be meeting up with some other folks from out in WY who also have an open schedule. Basically looking for more of a gas/expense sharing trip than climbing partners, but that does not mean I would not like to also climb with you. Renting the FS cabin in Hyalite with a group would be excellent if we could reserve it. Cheers!

Nice job, Wayne! Glad you finally got it! -
Looking to share a ride to Bozeman or Cody sometime in March. I am trying to meet up with some friends from Jackson and would like to share expenses of a trip. If anyone is rallying out and back in a 4-5 day span from the PNW out to the land of ice, let me know! Cheers

My schedule has changed and opened up some, partners have moved on, and I am hoping for new ice partners for WA waterfalls and alpine mixed climbs. Lillooet, Bozeman, Cody, you get the idea. I lead to WI3+ and follow to WI5. I am well versed in glacier travel and comfortable in the alpine. As a woman I would love to find some female partners, but gender aside I just want to climb with some safe, fun folks as much as possible. Cheers! Aili (360) 780-2444

I hesitate to post this here, for obvious reasons. I have received word on rather short notice that I will be up on the Kahiltna July 3 through the middle of the month. I would like to make a summit attempt before this via the West Butt, beginning around June 16th. My regular partners cannot join me on such an attempt on such short notice. I am looking for a partner (or partners) or to join an existing trip. Please do not spray this post. If you have serious interest in this post, please PM me. We can talk about experience levels, logistics, and etc by email and arrange to meet in person. Cheers!

best of cc.com [TR] Alaska - The Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier 4/25/2009

Gorgeous pictures! Great trip report! -
The climber was lowered in a litter to the ambulance. He was taken to Central WA hospital in Wenatchee, evaluated and discharged. Nothing broken, no internal injuries. He is recovering at home.

what a great trip!

What are your thoughts about retiring ropes after a certain number of crampon/ice tool sticks - especially when there is no visible core damage (pieces of core material sticking through sheath, obvious divots).
-
I have heard and read various criteria for deciding when to retire ropes used for both summer rock and alpine/waterfall ice climbing: lengths of time used and frequency of use, number of falls, crampon/tool sticks, sheath damage, signs of core damage, and etc. I would like to post this question to the cc.com world and hear when and why you choose to retire your respective ropes.

collin - read your pm's. i hear there's a drytooling area in issaquah.

I would be game for a set day per week to climb. I am carless but will happily chip in for gas if anyone is coming from Sodo/south Downtown area after 5pm.
