Thanks. And yeah, I'll be in the Seattle/Redmond area during december.
-
Please bear with me as this is my first venture into this area... I want to make sure my bindings get mounted right to my skis and I don't trust myself. I would rather fork over some money to make sure they are attached right. But here is the catch, there are existing holes in the skis (I bought them used), so who would be able to do this? Any suggestions? Idea on price? Thanks for your help. Don't know if this matters are not: Skis are Rossignol (some older AT style) and bindings are Fritschi Freeride.

Sounds good. I just went shooting last weekend and got all excited.

Hey Tvash, When are we going shooting?

Dual vs. Monopoint ... Leashed v.s Leashless

I guess I consider leashes (of some nature) for alpine so you don't lose your tool! Big difference between dropping them down a one pitch ice climb vs 3K foot face. -

Thanksgiving last year I climbed ice in north bend and ellensburg on the same day. Heres to hoping for cold weather soon.

were in a group of 3 in the enchantments?

Road was open. There was hardly any snow until midway up the switchbacks to colchuck lake, and even then, the snow was inconsistent at best. My guess is you're fine. And make sure your camera has batteries (unlike mine) and post pictures.

Yeah I got a good look. Looked like thin sugary snow down low, with maybe some ice up top? But it was continuous. Weather was pretty warm this weekend, so melt cycle going on now. And start tuesday/wednesday temps are suppose to drop up there to below freezing during night and day so perhaps more will form.

Happy Birthday Paul. I got an idea if you ever get those things out that jar.
-
John, Looks life fun. Hopefully another trip it'll workout. T-minus ten days before I'm on ice!

Report from the weekend: There is some ice on dragontail and colchuck, though mostly up high and thin. The only line that really looks continuous is the one between TC and backbone. I heard some big ice/rock fall saturday after noon. Around 6500-7K the snow gets annoying on aasgard pass. Once on top the snow is continuous, pretty deep to hard crust. It was windy as all hell satuday night and sunday morning. Mt. Stuart was completely covered in white. Sherpa looked like fun.

Anyone wanna road trip this weekend? -
Ok, after a little research found this from the US Customs and Border page, so hopefully this will help some other people: Land Travel Beginning January 31, 2008, U.S. and Canadian citizens 19 years and older who enter the U.S. at land and sea ports of entry from within the Western Hemisphere will need to present government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license as proof of identity, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate, or a passport. Children age 18 and under will be able to enter with proof of citizenship. Verbal claims of citizenship and identity alone will not be sufficient to establish identity and citizenship for entry into the United States. But I'd still appreciate from any people who have done that if they recieved any trouble, etc. Thanks again.

Long story short... Has anyone crossed the border recently WITHOUT a passport/EDL? I might have my EDL by the date I'm going but there is no guarentee. Just wondering if the old driver's license and birth certificate will still get me through. Thanks for any help/advice.

I had an inch of snow on my car this morning.

Thanks Dane. I still want to take you up on your offer/idea of climbing dragontail etc in the winter/spring.

Pat, I got a nice .22 rifle. I'd be happy to help with your project. Next time you're on this side of the mountains let me know, and I know plenty of places to shoot around here.

"Skiing the Cascade Crest" - Yakima, Oct 29, 7:30p

Looking forward to this. Thanks for doing it again! -
That is a good philosophy and all but some people go climbing regardless of weather and sometime it changes and you can't help it. Anyway, the shell I bought and have been happy with is the Rab Latok jacket. Its event fabric and cut really nice. I tried it on and bought it at Feathered Friends, good stuff.

snow on stuart judging by the surrounding hills, looks like snow level was around 3-4k feet. sweeeeeet
