  1. Trip: Washington - Cascades Date: 4/19/2012 Trip Report: With the change of weather and me starting grad school, I think I can say winter has ended for me. Looking back I had almost seven months of touring in new snow with new and old friends. Here is a quick look back at my 2011-12 winter. Thanks to all my ski partners. Thankfully we still have lots of snow up here in the PNW, so here's to a good spring and summer of touring. This season, as with most ski trips, started in a parking lot, with gear on the ground, drinking a beer, waiting for weather to clear Followed of course by copious amounts of skinning Sometimes early season conditions existed Other times the skin track was deep We would skin in stormy weather But then the weather would start to clear... And the views, like always, were spectacular Some Mornings we would start early... But as the soon as the sun started to come up... It was all worth it... Once at the top we could celebrate And enjoy the fruits of our labor Eye future goals... There is always those few moments where you are taking everything in before you drop in... But we came up here for a reason... Early season corn? early season pow skiing couloirs skiing new areas or returning to old favorites Hope everyone had a good season...always happy to ski with new and old friends. If you see me out there say hi. I usually have an extra beer in my pack the author, probably telling some bad story or joke

  8. What were the exact dates you guys were up there? Before/during this last warm cycle? Wondering if the warm days over the weekend helped consolidate things a big as it starts to cool back down today/tonight... thanks
  9. pindude, Thanks for the info. Always exciting to check out new aeras...are there any books that are worthwhile to pick up that talk about the aforementioned areas? The website you linked is interesting...seems like there are lots land use issues going on, but sadly the trip report area seems quite empty. thanks again. maybe we can get out skiing next winter
  10. Hey Pindude, i'll be moving to spokane in september. I've been able to find some info on the rock climbing in the area and know where the resorts are, but how about backcountry skiing? How long does the season generally run? Whats good thats close and not so close? Thanks.
  11. Just saw this on a two page spread in BC magazine. Nice work Dan! Sorry if I missed this somewhere else.
  12. Bump for price change.
  13. Or buy my tlt5s!
  14. Have you ever toured in the dukes? How about dynafits? Night and fucking day difference. I've put in about 15 days of touring plus another 20 days in bounds with them. Touring they are worse than a fritschi and in bounds i feel their slop and hear them squeak with every turn. Their heel post is a joke and if you skin in wet snow at all putting them back into ski mode is a bitch. end rant. I'm sure they are great for some people but i used dynafits first and i cant get over how bad they tour.
  15. Selling my TLT5 Mountains and Garmont Adrenalin: Purchased the TLTs last april from another member who had used them for five tours prior to me. I have skied them every month since and probably have somewhere around 60+ days. I removed the stock strap and replaced it with a nice scarpa booster strap. I will include the original one. I had one punch done on the left boot but its barely noticeable. Some wear on the vibram soles around the dynafit holes but otherwise just basic wear and tear on the shell. Liners baked once. Size 28.5 with bsl of 307 mm. Everything works 100%. $300 for a local transaction, $320 shipped. The Adrenalins are several years old but still work great. Currently they have intuition luxury liners, which have been baked once. A BOOSTER strap was added this season and I also replaced one buckle on the right boot. I have both vibram and DIN soles along with some spare screws and the hex wrench for the boot. These are size 29.0 w/ bsl of 327 mm and have the FreeRide tongue. $100 for a local transaction, $120 shipped. rest of pictures seen HERE
  16. totally understand. check geartrade.com. backcountry.com uses it for their returned items, if your size pops up you could find a good deal on boots, skis and even bindings.
  17. Pat, Check out voile for some light and fat skis. The new bd justice has gotten some good reviews. If you got some extra coin check out pmgear.com or dps. Dave, I drank the kool-aid of dynafit starting last spring and its totally worth it. But if its an absolute no go then...don't go marker. salomon is releasing a new binding this season. i used fritcschi for three seasons and never ahd an issue for what its worth.

Nope, but I am the only one getting paid to be online at this hour.
  20. I remember that. Paul, any chance running gear death wall has this similar problem? Such a fun climb when its in, but that was four or so years ago.
  21. Yeah, we vaguely remembered a TR on this area a while ago. Was that yours? Probably, I posted it in the WA Ice thread a few years back. Turns out it was Feb of 2009...
  22. Nice John. Your second pictures looks almost identical to one I climbed about 4 years ago. Lots of ice up there for sure.
  23. Nice work. Was that you guys walking down by the sahalee ski club around 0800? I passed a group of climbers driving home from work this morning.
  24. Let me help redirect this thread: My 2012 is going to consist of me moving twice and starting graduate/physician assistant school so with that in mind...
