octopuswithafez replied to octopuswithafez's topic in Climbing Gyms
Hmm, an Aid practice area? So for placing gear or just bolt ladders? This could be quite fun -

Found this as well on the seattle.gov site "A rock climbing wall and adjacent plaza will be constructed for use by Mountaineers classes and the general public." seattle.gov site for mounties -
I noticed this on the Mounties site about their new HQ opening in Sept '08 "The climbing plaza will be around 3,000 square feet and consist of a climbing wall of roughly 34 feet in height and 90 feet in width. An open space will be included in the climbing plaza, bordered by more climbing, scrambling and hiking terrain for practice on slabs and hillsides. The climbing facility, as part of the lease formula, will be owned by the city and open to the public." Mountaineers Press Release April 2007 Interesting...

Nothing like the great outdoors for some peace and solitude. Can't wait until you can pack heat legally there

Well, I had a make a choice to either focus on cycling or climbing this year , and chose cycling ( at least through STP). Its hard just getting to a gym or out for fitness rides, as well as respecting my wife's desire to have some time for herself. Having an energetic toddler is definitely fun, but certainly a crimp on the old hobbies :-)

The doc ain't gonna help Argyria (ISV from Greek: αργύρος argyros silver + -ia) is an extremely rare condition caused by the ingestion of elemental silver, silver dust or silver compounds. The most dramatic symptom of argyria is that the skin becomes blue or bluish-grey colored. Argyria may be found as generalized argyria or local argyria. Argyrosis is the corresponding condition related to the eye. The condition is believed to be permanent, but laser therapy may be helpful. just ask Grandma

And even after a few get crunched under trucks and what not, some of the younger generation (and some of the old as well) still don't understand the vital importance of making your self as visible as possible. After all, there are humans driving those cars, and as we all know, humans make mistakes. In the absence of predators, we need to have selective pressures somewhere.

Well, the owner was married to Peter Buck until last year and he was most likely subsidizing it since 2000. Of course that's hearsay but given the loss of some good bookers, the competition from Neumos and the Showbox as well the burgeoning scene in Ballard, things have been going downhill for awhile.

My wife's favorite memory was sitting on the floor with the only other twenty folks there while some guy named Elliot Smith strummed his guitar. Mine was seeing Carissa's Weird last show there... good times, now the Croc joins RKCNDY, Sit -n- Spin, Offramp/Graceland, Weathered Wall, Hi-Score, I-Spy, Gibsons ( 16 oz. gin and tonics baby!), the old Frontier Room ( last call) and Tarantula Jack's as Seattle places I miss

seattle times The Crocodile Cafe, an iconic Seattle rock club where many local up-and-comers played before launching into the national spotlight, has closed its doors, the club's booking agent Eli Anderson said today. The Belltown venue, at Second Avenue and Blanchard Street, shut down abruptly after more than 15 years. Anderson said he received a voice mail from owner Stephanie Dorgan on Sunday. "She said I have to close the Crocodile immediately," Anderson said early this afternoon. He was told that the locks were changed, and that he could pick up his personal items at a specific time this afternoon. ... although hope may spring anew with the this project
