I actually suspect that a new war IS McCain's plan to stimulate the economy. It would suit his enormous, completely self-centered ego; the President as warrior-savior. His rhetoric regarding Iran, coupled with his notorious temper, pretty much make this a foregone conclusion. He'll attempt to gene-splice Teddy Roosevelt, his hero, with FDR...without any domestic public works projects, of course. The reality of such a move, of course, would throw us back into the Middle Ages if we're not already headed there.

Obama should continue doing what works: remaining the cool cat, continue talking about fixing our problems and let McCain fall on his own attack campaign strategy. It's incredible that, given all the crisis today, the McCain campaign thinks that sending Palin out to dredge up the Ayers connection is a path to victory. Oh well, there's that judgement thing again.

Obama's poll numbers took a jump this weekend. October surprise, I guess. Palin's 'hard hitting' attacks apparently aren't quite hitting home.

Biden's got 36 years serving this country admirably. He's known in Washington as a straight shooter by both sides of the isle and the pundits. If he came across as a used car salesman, I'd say the problem is clearly with the observer here. You can't sit down with all the players or your non-existent cabinet to end the war before you get elected, you fucking idiot. To follow your advice would be to say nothing, which may work for you (although you seem to say alot of it), but it doesn't work for a candidate or the American people. If you intend to end the war if elected or push a health care plan (um, OBama and Biden ARE in congress, so, like, they know something about that stuff already), it's helpful the let the voters know about it.

I've seen the Republicans enact their deregulation agenda since Reagan. I don't need to click on any fucking link to inform me what the result of that has been, thanks. Clinton asked banks to offer mortgage to lower income folks during a time of budget surplus and a healthy economy in an effort to spread the American dream to those left behind. It was an admirable, fair, and appropriate move during a time of plenty. Then Bush came along and completely fucked it all up. The Republican agenda; MASSIVE, debt financed military spending and wars, wink-wink deregulation of Wall Street, fucking the environment for short term profits, tax cuts for the rich; I don't need a lecture by anyone as to how we got where we are today. I've watched this predictable train wreck unfold every step of the way.
