Short version: McCain sucks at hardball. But he's a fighter! A dumb, washed up, losing fighter.

I think a comparison would be considerably more facile than a contrast. I find it rather ironic that many on this site unilaterally question the intelligence of those that disagree with you. The fact is that GWB as well as McCain are well above the average intelligence. All of the rumors about GWB have been debunked and you have little left but whitewashing epithets to fall back on. Intelligence does indeed have little to do with being a successful leader; and that is what a politician (especially a high ranking one) must be. I wont even bother challenging you to find the sources of the alleged intellectual incompetence on the behalf of GWB and McCain; it has been refuted a dz. times before and doing so again would achieve nothing. We don't question your intelligence because you disagree with us, we question it because you're dumb. Dumb is as dumb does. Bush fucks up 100% of the time; he's dumb. McCain has royally fucked up his campaign from Day 1; he's dumb. You voted for Bush. You're dumb. There's more than one way to be dumb, of course. I'd say Bush and McCain have mastered several. -
Yes it is. It's just not part of Italy.

I suspect they also have a less nasty habit of being all mouth and no action. I wonder how many of McCain's screaming meanies won't even bother to show up at the polls. "Oh, like, man, my truck's actin' up..." -
I didn't even realize you were gone. I don' give no shit 'bout no Vatican 'n shit. Hope you had a good honeymoon. Italy. Romantic. Except the Vatican.

Well, anything can happen in this world, but the lesson from the kooks at McCain's rallies is how little tolerance the country now has for that kind of crap. Having said that, Palin stated just yesterday that she would continue pressing her 'pallin' around with terrorists' line. I think this is more a sign of a failed and desperate campaign that can't connect with moderates than a latent wish to incite some kook in the crowd to do the unthinkable. McCain continues to press the Ayers (and other) non-issue simply because he's got nothing much else to talk about. When you've got no message, you attack the other guy. It fills the time. -
So, just so I get this right... Christian monotheism means one true god, only he's really two beings and one spirit rolled into one (don't ask, it's a mystery), with an unlimited number of goody-two-shoe angels on one side and naughty little demons on the other. It takes a village, I guess.

The Village is safe.

Not to fear. Obama is raising an Army of the Dead through ACORN to register and vote for him.
-
OK, so let me get this straight. There are now, in the year 2008, tens of thousands of online Christians waging PrayerWar against African witches who are hexing McCain and Palin. Do I have that right? Politics is boring? I think not.

I'ts not clear just how much racial hatred there is out there. If you're a rabid racist, and there's a local GOP rally preaching racism (palin' around with terrorists, B. HUSSEIN, etc), you're going to make sure you go. You might wind up on YouTube. Kooks always have something to say and they tend to say it loudly. You'll be seen by millions. But you're still just one kook. Sure, they're out there, but American attitudes regarding race have softened substantially. Obama's popularity is obvious, but the more you talk with younger folks the more you realize just how fundamental this change is. They just don't give a shit about race, and they don't see why anyone should. There remains tremendous social and financial inequality along race lines, and that's a huge problem, but the era of hard core Southern Man style racism is drawing to a close and will probably end with the generation just now reaching adulthood. -
I think we're going to see a HUGE change in this country, and here's why: It's already been happening for several years now. The public's desire for sustainable energy independence, to combat global warming, for affordable countrywide health care, and to end our foreign adventures, non-issues six years ago, are at the top of everyone's list. Furthermore, the Evangelical agena is rapidly fading from view. In short, America is ALREADY re-prioritzing to face its real rather than imagined (per the GOP) problems. The White House hasn't figured this out, of course. McCain pays lip service to this sea change, but his programs are still 100% Bush league. Obama's the only candidate who recognizes what's going on across the country. And that makes all the difference. No, Obama won't be able to deliver on all his promises, but, in his recognition of this change in values and priorities already happening around the country, he stand a much greater chance of having some success as his rival, who doesn't seem to be able to communicate with moderates, nevermind liberals. My take: Iraq: Surged worked? Everything cool (GOP line). Great! Let's pull out. When forced, Iraq's govt. will have to take up the slack. They never will until we leave. Afghanistan: More focus could bring some success here. Right now there's no focus. The rest of the World: Loves Obama. We need their help (after all, they completely fund us now), so there's lots of opportunity here. Taxes: MUCH needed reform gonna happen here. No, I don't believe the Middle Class will get a real tax cut, but under Obama the upper class will pay more, as they absolutely should. Has our great society made you successful? Good. Now our great society needs to you pay some back, fuckers. Health Care: DEFINITELY a higher chance of coverage for more Americans under Obama. McCain's is just another pander to the HMO/insurance crowd under the guise of 'choice'. Americans who have insurance already have more choices than they need...Americans who don't have no choices. Guns: Fetish issue. Who gives a shit? Not really a part of Obama's agenda, anyway. Energy: More sustainable technologies will come on line sooner under Obama, but the rate and success of those remains to be seen. McCain's just going to drill more to increase our supply from 3% to, say 3.1% of our national usage, which will do fuck all, of course. Integrity: No contest. Ayers? Come fucking on. How about Keating? How about cheating on his wife with everything from Brazilian whores to his current wife Cindy? How about one of the most racist, lying campaigns in history? How about an entire reputation, including his war hero status, built on fabrication? How about one of the most cynical, electorially motivated VP choices ever? Given the integrity of McCain's campaign staff, I seriously doubt that his cabinet would but cut from better cloth. Not only would McCain's picks be worse, but consider who'd be willing to work in an Obama administration versus one led by McCain? Ouch. Education: Not my thing, don't know shit about it. Environmental: Over the past several decades: Democrats preserve the Environment, Republicans rape it. Pretty simple. Nuff said.

A friend of mine just got back from Louisiana. Woah. The shit she heard down there about Obama was bizarre. The whole 'terrorist/arab/muslim' thing is just a barely coded racist campaign from the RNC. Nothing to worry about; only the hardest crackers buy into it (it give them a chance to indulge in their natural tendency towards racism by equating it with patriotism), but they wouldn't vote Democrat even if the GOP started putting inbred folk in concentration camps. This verbal lynch party has completely repulsed moderates, so it's been great for Obama. All he has to do is sit back with a wry smile and watch his poll float heavenward. McCain doesn't seem to give a shit about moderates; he doesn't even give them a nod. Bizarre. -
When the prez campaign was just getting started I gave a few talks on the rise of the neocons. Progressive audiences mostly, as you can imagine (not alot going on with the ole' social calendar). I was surprised at how many dissaffected former Naderites (sell out!) were pushing Ron Paul flyers in that wild eyed, urgent way. They'd decided that they'd be more effective working 'within the system'. It was all I could do to stifle my laughter. I imagine that some of these folks, after several more years of dissappointment (a perpetual condition with this crowd), will eventually settle on the bottom of the political abyss: Lyndon LaRouche.

Not true. I once had a boss who raised pigs on his ranch. To move a hog around, you just cut the bottom out of a large steamer trunk, lower it on top of the animal, and walk around normally as if you're just carrying luggage around. The blinded pig will go wherever the trunk does, no questions asked. Fascinating, I know, but that's the kind of riveting information you can expect here at cc.com. -
Are you drunk? Must be to explain this kind of response. I know Bill personaly and he is a super good guy. He is genuine. He is not one to merrit a response like that. Put the bottle down and come back to the keyboard in a couple of days...... I do respect your opinion due to we are on the same side....but jeesh...... What, good guys get a bye for posting really stupid shit? Maybe my response will help to make bill a super duper good guy. His muddled thinking on this matter of import begged for a good slap upside the head. I don't respect the 'protest vote' thing. It's just another way of avoiding a sometimes difficult civic responsibility in favor of standing on the sidelines to granstand about your own purity and piety. Vote for real: voice your opinion. Throw your vote away: STFU. If it hurts to hear that, tough.

I haven't consulted with my attorney Ivan on this historical fact, but I believe that the battle over Ft. Sumter ignited an issue that had been simmering already; the refusal of the South to relinquish what the North believed to be its military property and equipment. All war is probably unnecessary, depending on what you can live with (or without), but there has been no greater threat to national security, by definition, than the establishment of the Confederacy. If there was ever a time to go to war to save the integrity of the United States, that was it. Unfortunately for Lincoln, those crackers could really shoot.
