  1. I'd support shrinking Big Government by ignoring 911 calls from tea baggers.
  2. There is a much better alternative for everyone, except the criminal justice make-work program, of course. It's call marijuana.
  3. Yeah, if the criminal justice system time to process tickets were free, which of course it isn't, that would reduce the that state's deficit by less than 2%
  4. From Taurus to TR7 in 6 seconds. Glad you're OK.
  5. You might be referring to Mexican police departments.
  6. Sorry but I don't see it as being essential for the government. The people of Washington shouldn't have to support a select few who choose to live in a place they can not travel to and from on their own. If the service can not sustain itself based on what passengers are charged (or island residents are taxed) then it shouldn't exist as a government program. Well, thankfully "the people of washington", myself included, disagree with you. I think you mean the people who live on the islands are thankful, I doubt many residents on the east side of the state agree with it. People on the east side of the state have their lifestyle subsidized 7:1 by Seattle (tax revenue wise), so they can pretty much suck it, do whatever we tell them to, and like it. Splitting the state down the Cascade crest would be a huge net gain for the west side...the eastsiders would dry up and blow away economically. Otherwise, they can go back to dirt roads rather than the brand new, largely unused highways we provide them. Great cycling out there, though. Love those highways.
  7. I'll wait until after I suffer a massive head wound....
  8. Cool that you're doing it with your dad. Man, that's rare. Yeah, that's why I've loved doing the list, too. I've been to some really amazing places off the general radar.... ....with some really, really shitty rock!
  9. How far along are you on d list, mon? Cuz that's the ONLY reason to climb Horseshoe LOL
  10. Just for clarity - I not arguing that those unfortunate steps were not necessary, just that they illustrate that private enterprises can be as screwed up, if not more, than public run entities. 80% of all businesses fail within 2 years. As anyone who's worked in the private sector for any length of time can tell you, most private companies are managed poorly and therefore execute poorly. Public entities can be just as or more efficient and effective than private and vice versa. The type of organization is not the issue. Management is the issue. Shitty management will run any organization into the ground. The fundamental problems with hiring for profit private entities to support the public good are: Conflict of interest. Private entities cater to their stockholders first, at the expense of their clients if need be. This problem is greatly worsened with no bid contracts and the general lack of accountability and oversight. Private entities tend to cut services that are too expensive on a case by case basis, which is often not an appropriate type of triage when providing critical services. Given equal management, private entities inherently cost more than their public counterparts because they need to distribute profits to their shareholders to remain viable. They also need to grow. Public entities can remain effective and viable without doing either.
  11. Trip: Horseshoe and Booker - Go to Buckner, hang a left, descend, hang a right Date: 7/28/2010 Trip Report: Josh and I went for #99 on my garbage pile list: Horseshoe, with Booker thrown in as a bonus. Horseshoe provides some exposed chosstacular fun near the summit. Booker probably holds some kind of record for false summits...be prepared for a good, long session of are-we-there-yet? The heat that weekend! Kinda wish we could have a dose of it now, though. 12. JayB has a blind spot when it comes to the cognitive nature of human communication. Brevity being the soul of wit and all that.

  14. A guy should have the right to wave an assault rifle anywhere he chooses.
  15. Only if chloroform is involved. My advice to SC is to love the one you're with, hooves and all.
  16. BTW, that movie was shot in Maple Valley to keep the budget down. No set required.
  17. Yeah, we saw the movie. No thanks, Fairweather. [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSROlfR7WTo I think the phrase "Ewwwwwww" pretty much says it all here.
  18. A majority of homeless folks are mentally ill. Not a whole lot of options for them these days: our society doesn't exactly pamper them. Yeah, they should be blamed for their situation. It's all about personal responsibility. Homelessness and mental illness often go hand in hand. Kind of like being a tool and a moron, right Summitchaser? When are you going to tire of making an ass out of yourself? If not for us, how about for the minute possibility of your ever getting laid?
  19. Being of Jewish descent, Josh is considered a national security risk. They take ZOG very seriously up there.
  20. Good thing Josh doesn't have to worry about that particular problem.
  21. Given the utter harmlessness of his victim in any scenario imaginable, it seems like the cop must have been primed to shoot somebody.
  22. It takes a certain...resolve...to argue with someone you've never met about the details of their life. That level of need to be right...compassion compels me every now and then to hope that this need is occasionally met, if only to provide a moment's respite from a relentless state of embarrassment, but it just never seems to happen.
  23. Here's a hint that'll keep him staring into a corner for a few days: First word isn't 'Washington'.
  24. He got one out of three right. Way better than usual.
  25. Wrong WAC, you fucking moron LOL
