Lots of swagger, lots of acrimony; no results. Voters tend to punish lawmakers who play this game for very long. Its kind of funny how every opinion poll out there contradicts the 'groundswell of support' the Bagger movement believes it has. Their concerns are simply not our concerns.

The governor's proposal would eliminate collective bargaining rights for health care and pensions, severely limit collective bargaining power for wages, and cut wages by 8%. Walker calls it a 'modest proposal'. His logic in removing these rights permanently? 'Hey, we don't have any money right now, so there's nothing to negotiate.' It's a union busting bill, pure and simple. Good luck with that, Govnuh!

More accurately, using sick days rather than an out and out strike prevents the governor from putting an emergency contingency plan into place which would enable him to bring in the National Guard to fill in those slots. The state workers are just being smart. Not something you're familiar with, I realize, but there you have it.

Curiously missing: a proposed law that would remove most collective bargaining rights from WI state employees. This isn't 'teacher selfishness' at work here. It's a full on, gloves off, union busting attempt. The WI senate has so far refused to vote on the bill. Sounds like the governor just didn't have the mandate he thought he did. Now he's an asshole in the eyes of every one of his state employees...good luck governing effectively from here on out!

Righties are wondering WTF? in WI, but the state employees know this is a nationwide battle for collective bargaining rights and if they lose this one it's won't be just a WI thing. The Baggers are trying out a little union busting (nothing new there). We'll see if it works. Seems like it might not be going to plan, though....

both things are valuable, and both things vital for a healthy republic OK: give us the quadratic equation for 1/4 of your grade: Go. No GOOGLEZ!

Um...yeah. Our bestest buddy: Bahrainian gubmint opens fires on funeral procession ...from helicopters...with machine guns. Oh, and grenades. Against a funeral march.

and don't steal pedals. Cycling sucks without them.

I'd say this is a far, far more valuable education for WI's kids than the memorizing the quadratic equation. Might as well let 'em in on what America's really all about as early as possible.

There's no problem in the south that cannot be resolved with enough bacon n grits. Southerners may claim a lot of things, but they are people of considerable appetite who will do essentially anything for pork. I once saw a southern Baptist minister step on a baby's head on his way to a Walmart promotional rack of apple bacon. There's nothin a pretty little piece of mountain trash won't do for a pound of fatback.

That's what I'm talkin' about! Why can't real nurses look like the ones in the porn flicks?
-
More hot nurses!

The Righties frame this conflict as 'selfish state workers who wont' share the burden', but the governor's openly stated that he's out to remove the collective bargaining power of state employees. Seems like a power grab that blown up in the governor's face. Don't think he threatened to haul the dems in at the point of a national guard bayonet, though.

Puritanism for hippies. Me? I sometimes turn on all the burners just to watch the pretty blue flames dance. Life without cooking would suck crystal rock deodorant.

Ever notice how vegans never seem to get a second dinner invitation?
-
Mine's about the same. I started out with the opposite, but then decided to cap Medicare growth to GDP+1%. Huge difference. Evil, but I felt it had to be done. Besides, those blue hairs just get in the way, especially on I 5. I figure I can eventually pick up a cheap Crown Vic out of the deal. The rest is tax da playuhs and trim the military.

Why don't they all just go back to Vega?
-
Sometimes its actually a female, though.
-
Vegan women always seem to be accompanied by a man-pet.
-
I balanced it. Slashed the military and ended tax cuts for the rich, mainly. Not hard.

Your pet's thinking exactly the same thing.

Satire requires cleverness. Meanwhile, our absolute bestest buddy in the Middle East shotguns peaceful protesters in their sleep: vid We've got a navy base there...US response should be interesting.

Unemployment is the biggest issue right now, as it should be. Cuts that result in substantial job losses should be reconsidered. It seems as though cuts in military spending and reductions of entitlement program benefits might be the way to go to preserve as much employment as possible.

5 minutes of watching leads most thinking folks to the same conclusion.
