Pullin hard on the crimpers already!

WA is a great place to live! You have plenty of out door activities to partake in and when the weather is bad you can CLIMB right into my warm bed (referring to the lovely active blond.) On a more serious note tho join an outdoors group, like the mountaineers. Its not to expensive and the connections you make are great. One peace of advice tho..Do it for you and not to be on some faggoty ass tv show. TV ruins everything. ~peace love~

Best advice I've ever heard on here "just move to WA"! seriously its a great place to be.

All of you missed the point of the question other then the dude suggesting teaching english. Self sustaining. I.e. continuous travel while bringing in an income. From others that were able to comprehend... the best oppertunity out there (i've heard so far) is an organization that boards, feeds, and MINIMALY pays you for farm work. Another suggestion would be to set up a web site an sell pictures you take from your travels. But that would take photography skills...

Just wondering if anyone on here has any tips for extensive CHEAP backpacking in other countries for long periods of time. Greatest question of all time is how to KEEP an income as you travel? Just thought it'd be an intresting topic of which i'm sure everyone on here could benefit from ~peace~ Austin

A winter climb is a great way too learn. AS LONG as you're with a few mates that know what there doing an have been doing so for MANY years. can't replace Experience and Intelligence with Balls and Stupidity!

Plan on doing Shasta over winter break. (whoooray long college winter breaks!) We'll be taking clear creek route. Should only take a couple days but will be using a week long window. So packs are gunna be heavy. Any takers just PM me. I'll bring the tent. ~peace~ Austin

Just got off the south face. theres a bit of glassading but be careful. the snow fields run directly into rock so be sure to stop clear of that. we watched a few folks slide into the rock. looked like it hurt too! the clouds moved in the day after we got off so probly a bit a fresh snow. good luck and be safe

HAHAHAHA its so funny how your getting angry that the local little guys are getting special privlages. Guarentee you wouldn't Bitch if it was you getting special access. Hike up you pansey. Or is that to much work for you? Honestly anarchy is just as bad as strong democratic and republican beliefs, and when people like Weekend-climberz sit here and raves on about Gov. and how they specialy cater to companies you sound so self centered and rediculous. Have any of you complaners stoped to think about the locals? and how this helps out the economy? Theres no way in hell you can say it doesnt help. Whether indirectly or not. Money flow into the ashford area is a boost in their cripled economy.
-
You guys are totaly missing the point! Norman thanks tho for the backup. Honestly if thats not enough to shut these ignorant people up then this is pointless. To weekend_climber Look at the companies its supporting by allowing the guide services to go up. RMI IMG yeah but what about the little restraunts and hotels that benifit. You guys who protest this are so ignorant. Look at the greater cause. which is THE LOCALS! I'd agree if some how Microsoft or some other huge coporation was benifiting, how that would happen I have no clue, but ther not. Its the goverment helping out the little people. Get off the poser punk anarchy train.

Or instead of risking some randome "lottery" winner to drive up there why not have that person pay the guiding company to go up? Come on people common sense. The drivers the compainies use are more experienced then your avarage Joe on a weekend trip. I know this to be a fact cause I personaly know a few of the drivers. Its to risky to let just any one up. Again, look past the selfishness of your statements and relize the locals are taking a kick to the balls right now with limited tourists. Pay the locals to take you up or Hoof. Don't complain.
-
Don't think of just yourself dude. What about the staving tourist community that thrives on the mountain's access? Not only were the roads on rainier wiped out by the floods but also the local economy. This alows the local businesses to stay open. Plus I doubt the roads are completly refinished. so what happens when they let complete inexperienced idiots to drive up a most undoubtedly treachorous road? I feel ya dude bout not being able to drive up, but honestly Be stoked and hoof it up like a real mountainier.

Does any one on here know the milage from the nisqualy gate entrance to paradise?

I went up last month. we started at the base on the 8 thousand something road. Most of the snowmobilers take off from this route. Anywho Bill, the guy I went with, owns CMR the climbing store down there and we took dogsleds to the base of the lava flow. From there skinned in on the skies. Conditions were great. the snow was hard packed. Anywho for more info on conditions or for getting gear just get a hold of Bill at his store. store number 509 395 3620.
