new invention for untying knot after whipper
denalidave replied to markwebster's topic in The Gear Critic
I blew both of mine totally off within months of an initial tramatic injury. Most surgeons don't want to reattach after 40 plus on age (which I call BS on) and even less if left unattached for a while, but always worth checking. Send me a PM if you are looking for a referal on a good surgeon. Thanks Dane. Unfortunately, I don't have very good insurance now, nor the cash to get the surgery. I'm pretty bummed about the whole dealeo... -

You heard right. A disal detach of the bicep is a common injury for men over 40 that have a long history of physical exercise. Last count on Supertopo literally dozens of climbers, generally late 40s on, with a single or dbl complete distal detach. (bicep tearing off the forarm) Likely many more with partial tears that go undiagnosed. With a quick (less atrophy) surgery, not that big of deal to get back on the rock/ice at the level you left it. Same council Gill gave me FWIW. I just blew mine a few months ago ... Has not been officially diagnosed, but my right (stronger side) bicep is totally flat. This really sucks. Not sure what they can do after the fact. I had good insurance at the time of the incident, but do to my wife changing jobs, I lost coverage a few days after. I did not notice the bicep tear till about 3 weeks later due to all the other neck/shoulder injuries I got at the same time. I've been told it is easy to re-attach within the first month, but much more complex after that. -
I can't believe I just watched a video of people playing a video game. This re-defines LOSERS ! I think we need to solicit the mods to change boner's name to Leeerooooooyyyyyy, however.

I'm just "stirrin the soup"... (Remembering the FA debate on Stone Rodeo). Stay tuned for the next gripping episode of As the Bacon Churns... Will Ivan finally become a real "clean" climber and lose his dependency from the evils of the fifi hook? (Enter dramtic music here.) Will JH save us from ourselves? Will Kenny ever find out who has his beloved cam? Will someone finally make bird stew on Big Ledge? What will Boner cry about this week? Will DD jump off the Norseman? Dun,da, duuuuunnnnn..... Stay tuned and found out where the drama will end.

Better run that by JH, first, mista...

Anyone find a green Petzl Reverso out there lately? Probably on Grassy Ledges somewhere?

I guess I should clarify my "raw" statement... I believe that "processed" foods are generally far less nutritional than "unprocessed" foods. Granted, I am a lowly simpleton with not much ejemakation on da subjekt. Still, I do feel much "healthier" and stronger when abstaining (as much as is feasible) from all the crap and sugar that is inevitably in virtually all processed foods. But of course, Trashie must always put anyone's comments into the proper place. Thanks again oh master of the all that is known about everything. Your enlightenment will surely save all of us from ourselves, we owe you our lives and children...

Yeah, but, pets make great kids. And, you can just eat them with they get boring.

That's because your girlfriend is super hot. -
It was a siege ascent too. First alpine style human powered moon shot byfairmeans ascent is still up for grabs. I'm training to ride my bike there.

That's why we have a pig and cow raised to our "specifications". I once thought about becoming a vegetarian... Not because I love animals, but because I hate vegtables. I love animals, they taste GGGRREEEAAAATTT!

No, not a bad argument for what I was pointing out... You CAN still climb without "artificial aid", even if it is available... Whatever. I don't believe bolting is good when other viable options are available. But someone above has a point that any man made stuff used to assist in the mountains is also "man made aid". That is the point I was agreeing with. It boils down to ones own perception of "aid" and/or ones "ethics". These can obviously vary greatly from one person to the other. Why did I even bother getting sucked in here??? I am a dumbass for that.

Without reading this whole thread, I'll chime in and say that there are still plenty of mountains (I'd say all of them) that can be climbed by those hardmen/women without man made aid... NOBODY is forcing anyone to clip a bolt, jug a fixed line, or wear man made clothing. You are always welcome to skip the bolts, leave the rope at home and make your own clothes from hemp, animal hydes (that you of course harvested on your own with, without "man made aid". Sure, you may see the bolts, but you will also see the roads, stores and infrastructures. Just sayin...

I have yet to catch one in the traps, although they have gotten fed plenty and even tripped the traps without getting caught a few times. I set two up last week that they have to go in a tunnel to get the bait, making it much harder to just lean in and snag the food. To my surprise, the bait is still there and the Decon block has not been touched. I'm guessing they all got poisoned. Won't take long for another family to move in, I recon. The last one I saw was incredibly fat and about a foot long. I think it was prolly preggers. Trashie, you will always be the fat rat in my woodpile. sickie BTW, love the new sig... Although it pales in comparison to some of the gems I offered up.

I've been tempted to break out the shotgun, but have resisted the urge, so far.

I'm having a battle royale with rats too... They easily chew holes up in 2x4s , feast on the chicken feed/compost pile. I'm amazed how clever they are at getting the bait off the traps without tripping it. I did manage to club one and squash it recently... Little bastards are driving me nuts.
