  2. not true, spray is plenty regulated these days. I've personally had several posts stealth-deleted now, in the spray forum, too! and seen others vanish
  3. We should charge $30 a year to park around Greenlake. +1

    I'd buy one
  5. my girlfriend's father visited from Romania last fall and we all went hiking. He remarked how much better care we take of our parks and backcountry than in his country. I dunno, I tried and I just can't seem to get worked up over a $30 yearly parking permit. It's better than the dollar-a-day I have to pay at Marymoor. Driving is expensive, what do you expect? Carpool and split the parking fee or something, jeez. Buncha whiners.
  6. So I'm not really the one to do the whole armchair quarterback thing, but the "facts" in this one really piss me off. I wonder how hard the team even tried to perform their own crevasse extraction before calling 911? The article makes it sound like they basically just called and waited. I really, really hope that's not the case.
  7. Why can't everything just be free?

You go overseas and a few scant weeks later this is hot? Sobo, she's OK, but buddy, it's gonna be a looooonnnngggggg tour. LLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! I see what you're saying, but she's hotter than a lot of guy's wives I've seen on this board. Glass houses...rocks....just saying.
  11. Does it matter if the money goes into the general fund? Money is money. The parks department has a budget from somewhere. Even if the discovery pass goes straight into the general fund, who cares? The parks department gets paid from somewhere and if the state's income decreased (fewer discovery passes sold, for instance) then maybe they'd have to decrease the park's department funding. So even if they're not directly connected, they're still symbiotic. I can't believe you guys are really arguing about this, who cares where the money goes? I doubt that the discovery pass would be capable of paying for the entire parks department budget anyway, so does it matter if they lessen their fiduciary burden on the state by providing an income source that can be used for other projects that might be underfunded -- in exchange for continued budget consideration? Or do you think everything should be strictly use-tax supported? I.E. no general fund, everything is supported by it's own fines/permit fees/etc. ? If that were the case I doubt the parks department would have any money at all. So I don't know why you guys are complaining, you can't get something for nothing.
  12. These are paleo-diet people. The last thing they want is a science-based perspective.

  14. weird. Do you think the dolphin cares? "OMG GET IT OFF ME!"
  15. good riddance. What are we doing with that space? Velodrome? that would be so rad.
  16. Yeah, I'm sure stevia is way better than aspartame, which is basically poison. Not trying to bust your balls. Personally, I find it tastes about the same, though. Know what I mean? I tried using it for a while but just didn't like the way it tastes, decided that a little honey wasn't so bad. I'll try it with some lime. I've recently been struggling with blood sugar issues, so sweeteners are a subject dear to me
  17. I have a big sweet tooth also. Stevia is an all natural herb found in South America. It's actually been on the health food scene for quite a while. All sweeteners are chemical. I find stevia tastes just like sucralose -- too sweet, and weird. I guess it's healthier but it sure doesn't taste better. And for the record, plain yogurt doesn't have a GI of 0. It's low (prob 15 or so), but not 0. It has plenty of natural milk sugar in it.
  18. Seattle is totally an "if" kind of sports town. "We would have won it if...."

My mom likes to post pictures of herself at the farmers market holding up the shiny organic vegetables she buys. I know other people that like to take photos of the dinner that they cooked. Other people take photos of themselves on the summit. It's all the same sort of "look at what I did." Personally, I'm not into hunting enough to care about taking shots like this, but I know guys who are -- they work hard at hunting a nice specimen and they want to show everyone the product of their hardwork. Don't fishermen do the same thing?
  21. OMG was this taken with instagram? NEEDS MORE PINHOLE VIGNETTING!
  22. We should build an indoor velodrome.

Yeah, but pretending to be all sensitive about it ("I don't even understand it! They're so beautiful, why not just capture them in a pretty picture??") helps some people get laid.

awesome. Deer is too much meat for me, though, I don't want to be one of those families with a deep freezer filled with meat that takes 2 years to eat. I think I'd prefer to hunt rabbits. I make a mean stew! YUM! I shot a few rabbits when I was a kid. The best part is how they tumble if you get them while they're moving fast
