Tell me, bill, since you seem to support torture in some cases: what form of torture do you prefer? Thumbscrews? Genital shocks? I'm curious what form you think the U.S. should adopt.

Torture is notorious for false information. That's why civilized nations no longer rely on it. How would you know he's giving you the right location? Keep torturing him until it's found? How do you know when somebody is planning a 9/11 attack on their computer? Just torture everyone and be safe? Besides, if you have to torture someone to get their password, then you need to hire better computer experts.

of course, it's a tragedy if improperly plaecd bolts resulted in injuries or death. But still, I can't help but be grateful that something has occured to lead people to question each bolt they clip. Complacency has no place in climbing.

Obama reserves the right to perform renditions Apparently, they're going to be nicer about it, though.

sweet! i miss climbing -
This is called "French Style" I believe. Well known in the remote regions of the Himalayas. Indeed. Look! If you watch closely, you can see them reverting to their natural state!

i think it would be great if everybody started chucking canisters into talus fields. Great suggestion. Can people also stash old cars there? Think of the disposal opportunities.

The trail got closed because they repeatedly had people up under the East Face roofs two winters ago and that closed it. So...if the trail had been closed two winters ago, people wouldn't have decided to illegally climb? "Man, I was totally gonna poach this climb, but then I noticed the TRAIL WAS CLOSED. Damn!"

I once tried to get into a drive-in theater for free, but they wouldn't let me. I tried to tell them I was on my bike, but you know how those dumbass bureaucrats are. I bet that guy totally had a small dick.

[TR] Mt. Rainier National Park - Glacier Basin 1/19/2009

So, I'm hearing from the parks department and several snowmobile clubs that snowmobile traffic along 410 is very off-limits -- something like a $500 fine per person, as well as having your sled confiscated. Anybody heard of this? We saw several riders up and down the road on Sunday, including a pair who parked at the TH to board Burroughs. -
haha, ah, this thread is more like it

Trip: Mt. Rainier National Park - Glacier Basin Date: 1/19/2009 Trip Report: Dan and I skiied up to Glacier Basin on Sunday, with a late start. No pictures, so if you want to see the views, you'll have to schlep yr own ass in there. 410 is gated at Crystal Mountain Blvd. -- it took us about 6 hours to ski the road to Glacier Basin trailhead, with lunch breaks, etc. Snow was pretty firm in Glacier Basin, except up high on South-facing slopes, where it was like spring corn. One remarkable thing was the apparent lack of recent avalanching. We skiied out Monday night. The road is hard and icy, but at least there are downed trees scattered randomly across the road. I tried to leap over one, but my right ski didn't clear it and went under the trunk. I was in tour-mode, and slammed face-first into the ground like a hinge. Total carnage. Gear Notes: bring mental entertainment. Approach Notes: long.

But at least the trail would be well-flagged afterwards.
