So do you take personal responsibility for the death of your son? I've managed to avoid posting this thread, until now... Probably one of the most insensitive comments I've ever seen kirkw. Sadly, not real surprising coming from you. EOM Hey dougd. Go fuck yourself with a bushmaster you hypocritical piece of shit. How's that for sensitive? Sorry to interrupt the little group think experiment you guys had going here. Good luck on your witch hunt.

I have no idea what he was personally like before he decided to murder his mother and 26 other people. And neither do you. That's my point. It's all conjecture. He's getting the fifteen minutes of fame he wanted and you guys want to posthumously crucify his mother. Obviously something was wrong with the young man but I'm sure that falling somewhere on the autism spectrum had little to with his actions that day. It's clear that he had mental health issues and trouble fitting into society. What those were exactly we don't know. Thats obviously not stopping the mob from wanting to tar and feather SOMEBODY.

Well, that's Rob's assertion, so you might ask him. please translate this for me then... Translation: If she had guns in a lockbox and not in the closet or under the pillow or under the couch this could have been prevented. I see. Its ok to hold other parents accountable for the actions of their adult children. But not yourself. Neat logic! Btw, you got a link that describes how she had guns hidden around her house. I can't find any information on that but I'm absolutely sure you wouldn't just make up a statement like that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personality_disorder That's a great wiki link. Except autism isn't considered a personality disorder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism

It's absolutely amazing how little people know about Autism. Sad.

Easy. Require all citizens to undergo an (invasive) full body search as well as an in depth mental evaluation anytime they wish to leave their homes and interact with the general public. Everyone will, of course, be required to carry up to date certification of their daily examination and present these papers to any authority figure that asks for them.

That you are duder. Just like my partner who's taught Special Ed for nearly a decade now. She's only in it for the easy money, plush bennies and copious amounts of free time it allows her.

It's funny that when it comes to gun rights this is a question, but if you substituted any other situation the answer is clear. Let's try it out. - The bank left the vault unlocked when the robbery took place and they stole all the cash in it. - The soldiers left the nuclear payload unsecured when the insurgents attacked the base. - You left your car unlocked and the thief stole the belongings. This women had some clear choices being faced with an unstable son. Secure the weapons in such a way he would never be able to get them OR just get rid of them. She choose not to. What the fuck are you talking about? Leaving your car unlocked is asking to be robbed? I suppose wearing a short skirt is asking to be raped? What's with needing to blame anyone other than the person who did this horrible deed? There is only one person responsible for the actions of Adam Lanza. Adam Lanza. This cute little thread you guys have going here showing just how much you care about "the children" is much more entertaining than a dozen pages of insults lobbed at Kevbone for pointing out that horrendous shit happens all the time.

But Mrs. Lanza is responsible for the actions of her adult son because he was able to figure out how to steal her guns and kill her with them?

Dane, that's a great story you should do a TR. Doesn't sound to me like Jake had that kind of a day though. Did you miss the part of his OP that shows photos of the cuff on the other boot also wearing thin? If they are both failing at the exact same point then that sounds seriously like design failure to me. To me it would be unacceptable, premature failure and I would not hesitate to return them and ask for a full refund. I wouldn't consider this an unreasonable epectation of the product or the company. Not in today's marketplace anyway. Also, what G-spotter said.
-
Yeah, no shit Sherlock. Thanks for the PSA. $500 climbing boots that fall apart on the approach must just be for status chasers with too much money. I'm sure they look great in the seven summits scrapbook though.
-
Totally agree with the OP on this one. For what those boots cost they should be able to withstand one day of bush wacking. If they can't then wtf good are they as a climbing boot?

I don't wish the dude would have died up there. I do wish that more people would call him out for being a dumbass though. Instead, everyone's patting him on the ass and giving him an atta' boy when they really should be punching him squarely in the nuts for being an idiot. Instead of praising him for "doing the right thing" by calling in a rescue then kicking back and creeping Facebook until SAR could bring him some hot chocolate, I'd think he deserves a severe tongue lashing from his mother (or GGK) for not being mentally or physically prepared to complete a climb in those conditions but climbing anyway.
-
Nice little adventure. Can't wait for the TR. Its great to see that compass reading and white out navigation are considered to be part of an advanced skill set by you guys. I'm the definition of weekend warrior when it comes to climbing and I wouldn't dream of climbing anything if I wasn't confident in my abilities to get myself off a mountain in bad weather. I've done it several times as have many, many climbers I know. It's not really that hard. Not sure why several of you are making it out to be more than it is.
-
Not sure WTF that means but I've never had to spend an unplanned night in a lenticular. Might have something to do with me knowing how to read a compass. Hope rescuers get him down.
-
He'll probably go on and on about how all that shit "saved his life". Of course, I'd wager that right about now he'd trade all of it for the ability to read a damned compass.
-
How about this for a solution? I'll give you twenty bucks for the chopped rope and you can put that towards buying yourself a brand new one if this sort of thing keeps you up at night. I'll use it with one of my weirdo 1/2 ropes. Ones about 63m from the factory.Another one's been chopped down to something like 50m, although I'm not exactly sure of the precise length. I've always had trouble getting exact measurements of rubber bands. I'll continue to tie knots in the end of my line on raps that don't end on the ground, keep someone/something tied into both ends when climbing and mark the middle so that I can use it as a single our doubled over when chossmateiring. Regardless what length it is.

He wants to go sometime toward the end of December or early January. Have you considered finding a different partner, a different hill to start on, a different time of year to get into volcano climbing, or perhaps all three? Good luck. Current thread in the OR forum.
-
Maybe I missed it but when are you guys planning on climbing?
-
Thanks for that...had never heard the term before. Awesome. Sorry for the diversion. As far as the ads go sure why not, just don't start in with the pop ups. I've haven't gotten past the front page of a site with a pop up ad in over a decade.
-
By Rove standards that would depend on which outcome you favor.
-
I thought this too. I was wrong.

At least they will CLAIM they've established it. And they can claim whatever they want. Of course a cop can always ASK you to take an FST without even claiming to have probable cause. Glad to see this measure pass but the DUI language in it seems like a time bomb to me.
