  1. so what?
  2. If you suspect that the crawl space is in deed the return air plenum for the furnace, it should be pretty easy to spot. (well for me it is...) Just look to see if the knee walls, if you have them are insulated, and that the vapor barrier (the plastic sheeting on the floor) goes all the way up to the "ceiling" of the crawl space. Also, crawl over to where the furnace penetrates the floor space, you should see a cut out in the "ceiling", and if you look up there, you will see the bottom of the furnace. Also, you can tell if you have a grate in your floor of your house (A pretty big one), and you shine a flashlight down it, you should see the crawl space. If so, you have a crawl space return plenum. I am suprised that your home inspector missed that part. Well, actually I am not, many of those guys are hacks.
  3. Not any faster than 110. Actually 220 is nothing more than two seperate "legs" of 110.
  4. describes my career expectation as electrician $15 and a sixer So if I'm drunk, I won't get electrocuted when I start fucking around with the breaker box? No, you won't feel it when you get electrocuted Thats not true. I was fucking around with some 277 lighting circuit after "a few", and it hurt like hell when it bit me...
  5. Well, He should first check to make sure that the crawl space is not being used as a return air plenum for the Furnace/Air conditioning system. It's rare, but I have a few clients out here in PDX that have systems like that. (I am a HVAC Contractor) I have tried to sell them a proper duct system, but they are cheap bastards! Those houses do not have any foundation vents, because that would screw with the air to the furnace, and make it very in effecient . Believe it or not, but it was not against code to do that back in the 70's..
  6. I am not an Electrician, but I am a HVAC Technician, so a lot of it translates. First off, what kind of circuit is it that is blowing? Does it only do it when you plug certain stuff in or is it random? Plus, what brand is your panel. Some brands (Federal Pacific) are notorious for breakers that are faulty. Lastly, where are you Located, besides "Trimmed and Burning"?
  7. Well, you got the right mountain, wrong side though. If you had said the cloud cap parking lot, I would have little to argue with. I dunno about the Burton outfit. The only thing I own that is Burton is my Splitboard, but hey, you did give a shot. I like Mt. Hood because it is close. That also means I can go every weekend.
  8. Liar. Must be one of those stuffed shirt tele skiers.... 5 minutes of down? 2 hours of hiking? You're not much of the badass backcountry skier you puff up to be, are ya? BTW, some of us snowboarders are tearing up the shit in the Backcountry these days too, ever heard of a split board? Probably not, because you are still riding the lifts.
  9. 'Stacios are nice, but a lot of work and you need to shell them. I always liked Cashews and a few chocloate chips tossed in. Now I've learned that isn't the best thing to eat. Just get the expedition sized bag at Costco for $10... already shelled Stacios. I bring em cragging, alpine, spray'n, whatever, all the time. MMMM better throw a handful on some vanilla ice cream right now. Fucker! I am all out.
  10. Really, I have never seen a diaper this full... I mean, uh, heh, uh, Jenna and Barb never has a diaper like that...I, ahh.... I give that one of these rare, uh, heh, Texas "thumbs up", uh, yeah, huh, yeah. China is great! Where is the Barbeque?
  11. It's about rockin' out with yer cock out....
  12. I thought the same thing when I first heard of the "accident"... From my experience, not that I hunt my self, is that the people who like to hunt bears and cougars are not hunting for food, but rather hunting to "kill" something"... Sure there are some who actually eat bear meat, but they are a minority. Just my observation from working with "da rednecks"...
  13. You should bring a whole video Ipod full of videos that Porter posts. I never thought of this kind of stuff in the past.
  14. Well this should put all you arm chair's to rest.. the kid is being charged with Manslaughter... http://www.kirotv.com/news/17167837/detail.html
  15. If you don't like the way we drive, then stay out of our state. sickie
  16. I was not trying to ridicule the man. He was apparently on some sort of spiritual quest, thats fine. But I still can't see how one gets lost at 7200' on the SS of hood in good weather. Maybe I am just very familiar with the area, so I see things differently.
  17. How does one get lost at that altitude on that side of the mountain?
  18. I don't think that I believe you. Since I started riding my bike, I sold my car(s) and make my wife ride the bus. As a matter of fact, I ride my bike to go climbing too. I think I am gonna invent "bike tire chains" so the OSP will stop harassing me when I ride timberline road to go skiing... As a matter of fact, I also ride my bike for work. I am a HVAC tech, and carry my tool box, torch set, recovery machine and pump on a rack, and carry my ladder on my shoulders. Both ladders. It's a bitch to get big parts, like 5 HP motors and stuff, but hey, that's what the "Crankhead trailer" is for. See life is great without cars.
  19. Interesting video. I guess that bike rider learned the hard way that pedestrians have the right of way. Unfortunately, he found out the NYPD way. But he is also lucky he did not get a plunger shoved up his ass while the cops where chanting "It's Giuliani time, motherfucker"...
  20. I guess I am just feeling a bit "assholeish" The "too many beer s club" will do that to ya... Not to worry though, I was up there in the last few weeks too...
  21. Godskid5, the only way you will know, is if you just drive up there, and hike the ridge, and look for your self. Sorry, not trying to be mean, but it always seems like you are looking for beta, but you never have any beta to report back. Sure conditions change rapidly. Thats the nature of the mountains. Do yourself a favor, and get your shit together, and go try the Sunshine route this weekend. Be prepared to climb a few schrunds. Be prepared to cross a few snow bridges. (My partner fell into a crevasse two weeks ago on the lower Elliot), and have a car shuttle set up, because decent down cooper spur is not good right now. As a matter of fact, no alpine route is "in" right now. Go kayaking instead.
  22. I think I looked at you like you where "cracked" when I let "the Jerk" try to operate my camera on the summit of hood a few years ago.... All he did was make fun of my name the entire walk back down the Hogsback.... "Otto huh?, isn't that the driver from "The Simpsons"? "Did you know that a lot of Nazi's where named Otto?" "Whats with that old school ice axe, when you have a modern "ice tool" strapped on your pack"... Blah blah blah.... Yeah, the dude lives up to his Avatar name for sure. I almost kicked his stashed trekking poles and pickets off the hogsback that morning too. I would have never regretted it...
  23. Maybe I misunderstood you in that other post that you and I both know what I am referring to. I guess it's stories like this one that leave a lump in my throat, because it's exactly how I lost my Father. I get emotional thinking about it, and sometimes I get hyper-sensitive about the subject. Yet on the other hand, I continue to alpine climb even though I have had the worst of the worst happen in one of my own climbs. But it has yet to make me feel "immortal"... Quite the opposite. To each their own.
  24. Wow... That really sucks... Terrible news, my condolences to the family. I know your pain, I have been there my self. I am sure Ivan will come along anytime soon, and tell us about how "immortal" stuff like this makes him feel. On another note: I am suprised that anyone is coming back down the spur in these conditions. Two weeks ago I watched the entire north side gullies erupt into a full on rock slide avalanche... That was around ten AM.
