  2. i just picked up a set of reactors. havent had a chance to use them yet, but the feel nice in my hands.
  3. anyone been out in the gorge this weekend?? got tomorrow off and wouldnt mind geting out
  4. im going to be in minneapolis for xmas and might have a free day or two............. anyone on this bord in minnesota that might have some beta on which climbs are in?
  5. well it looks like im going ot have to make it up there. i just got my new tools and it dosent look like the cold is going to stick around long enough to freeze the gorge.
  6. sorry dumb question........ where is hope??
  7. they are too thin. other brands will have more down in them and insulate you more.
  8. im looking for a pair of soft shell pants. what are you guys using? i have a pair of the rei taku pants that i use when its warmer, they seem to work ok. just dont have a ton of faith in rei gear. and a pair of full xcr bibs for when its ugly. but lately i have been getting to hot. now i am the sweaty kid. i think about moving and i sweat. so i started looking at the arcteryx gamma ar and mx pants. anyone have these? how do they work in warmer mountianering/alpine activities. how about hardwears conduit softshell? at this point im not set on anything specific so im open to sugestions.
  9. ive got a benelli with 00 buck behind the door for the same purpose
  10. i wouldnt count on the road being open that late in the year. will all the snow that the mountian has had in the last few days i wouldnt be suprised if they close the upper gate. it is 9 miles from the point where the pavement ends/dirt road starts to the parking lot where you start hiking. the upper gate is prolly at the half way point. we were up there last sunday in the rain/blizzard and with the start of late dear and elk season the road is in rough shape. i went up there in a forrester and there were a few parts that made my ass pucker. but yes there is a hut up at around 6800 feet it was though, filled with snow because the last people there didnt close the door thingy
  11. auto or wheel gun?? how about a little ppk? with the right ammo it good stopping power. i have always liked the sub compact glocks, but they are a bitch to shoot in the heaver calibers. i have a friend that loves the new springfied xd's they come in anything from full size to subs
  12. go take a class and learn how to use it first. then decide what you want in a weapon. dont just buy a glock cause someone tells you too, stick it in your pants and head out to the mall. thats how bad shit happens. handle and fire as many as you can. there is alot of options out there, it all depends how big you are, where and how you want to conceal it, and ultimatley how much gun you can handle.
  13. which store do you work for? how high up the ladder are you??
  14. i have got a theta sl which is half pac-lite half xcr. i think it might weigh 16oz. definatley light enough for me. i dosent breath as well as a full xcr jackett, thats why i have a alpha sv also. it is a great in the pack jacket for the summer time, but it stays home when i head up to the mountains. if im worried about the weather i will carry the extra 5.5 ozs of the alpha sv. pit zips help...... a little, but not enough to make up the lack of breathability of paclite. i agree with what was posted earlier, light weight doesnt mean durability. if you have a prodeal with them look at the alpha lt and theta or beta sl. if this is their fall clinic special it is a serious deal. take advantage of it.
  15. i figured there had to be knee pads involved
  16. where did you get it from..?? i didnt think they came out till tomorrow. im going to get one after work tomorrow. i cant seem to not break ipods so maybe this will be better for me
  17. how long is this area climbable?? as the snow falls will it cover the climbing up?
  18. what i could see of the ice looked good, but i spent alot of time trying to keep the shit out of my eyes.
  19. we went up to cooper spur sunday morning to try to get some ice climbin in on the eliot. as soon as we broke the tree line i knew it wasnt going to be fun. i would bet the gusts were at least 50mph. i weigh 200lbs and with a 50 pound pack on when it would blow it was all i could do to stay standing. the further up we went the worse it got until finially my better half took a pretty good digger and i got smacked in the face with my helmet that was hanging on my pack, we decided to head to full sail for some pints. i hope the road stays open for a little while longer, i would like to get back up there again before the snow starts.
  20. thanks to all for a great event! we had a great time. met a few new folks, and enjoyed the comps!
  21. yeah thanks guys the help is appreciated!!!! ...... anyone know of a good place in p-town to get a bag cleaned??
  22. i bought a used down sleeping bag and i want to wash it. its got kind of a funky smell to it. i thought about throwing a dryell sheet with it in the dryer for a while to get rid of the smell. but if im gonna go through all that hassel i might as well just wash it. anyone have any tips on how not to wreck it. its a marmot pinacle, so i kind of wanna keep it. thanks
