Banks Quietly Borrow 50bil from Uncle Sammy. NEW YORK (Reuters) - Banks in the United States have been quietly borrowing "massive amounts" from the U.S. Federal Reserve in recent weeks, using a new measure the Fed introduced two months ago to help ease the credit crunch, according to a report on the web site of The Financial Times. The newspaper said the use of the Fed's Term Auction Facility (TAF), which allows banks to borrow at relatively attractive rates against a wide range of their assets, saw borrowing of nearly $50 billion of one-month funds from the Fed by mid-February. The Financial Times said the move has sparked unease among some analysts about the stress developing in opaque corners of the U.S. banking system and the banks' growing reliance on indirect forms of government support.

From BBC Hundreds of Danish Muslims have been demonstrating in Copenhagen against the reprinting of a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad they consider offensive. The cartoon depicts the Prophet with a bomb in his turban. All major Danish newspapers decided to republish it after Danish intelligence said it had uncovered a plot to kill one of the cartoonists. Protestors marched in the capital's streets shouting "God is Great!" and "Freedom of speech is like a plague!". Many carried the black and white flags of Hizb ut-Tahrir - the radical Islamic party that calls for the creation of a caliphate. Earlier, at Friday prayers, Danish Muslims from many backgrounds expressed frustration that one of the cartoons they find so offensive could have been printed again. Weary resignation Many said they simply could not understand the motive unless it was hatred for Islam. But the overwhelming mood was not so much anger but weary resignation; a sense that they have been through this crisis once before and nothing has been learnt. I'm not Len, Zim Zam - I'm bill, I just saw the ad and thought you'd enjoy it. I do have some a couple of handfuls, almost 30 pieces, classic ancient gravel I could part with for a couple of hundred bucks $500.00 if you'd like. 2 different professors say that these rocks come from the igneous period, which was even before your ancestors were born. That old. yup. Price reduced to $450.00 as there is NO glitter, however, I have been assured it is in fact real old stuff. Anybody got any land in FL they wanna sell me.
