RocNoggin replied to tivoli_mike's topic in the *freshiezone*
who is Cliff Mass? and yes, I am planning on ripping it up this weekend! :-) -
I havent seen it but I will when it gets to Olympia. it will cost half as much there as seeing it in Seattle or Tacoma. it is going to play on the 18th at the Capital Theater as I recall.

Jill Fredston Slideshow: Nov 6 @ Third Place Books
RocNoggin replied to tomtom's topic in Events Forum
did you post this in the events section too? -
thanks for the update D! :-)

latest from the National Weather Service, regarding the forecast for next week: Monday through Thursday: Periods of snow and rain. Snow level 3000 feet Monday rising to 4500 feet Wednesday and 6000 feet on Thursday. Afternoon pass temperatures in the 30s. and that was for the west slope of the North Cascades, I would expect the other areas farther south will be even warmer... this will be a likely scenereo (sp?) for this winter: lots of snow just below freezing then warming. all the same though, lots of good skiing to be had if you time it right! :-)

AT Ski Width: Fatter waist better for NW Snow?
RocNoggin replied to allsetcobrajet's topic in the *freshiezone*
fat skis rock! I am a big time convert now. my ski of choice for powder: Fischer Big Stix 10.6 (with Linkin bindings) ...106mm in the waist! (135-106-123 overall) and while as it has been said before in this thread that fat skis dont hold an edge as well in really icy/hardpack conditions (duh!) I have used by Big Stix on the groomers and they do great! I like them much better than the Mega Bangs, on piste or off, and I have two other friends who will back me up on this one. I dont know what you guys see in the Mega's that you like so much... my do everything all-mountain ski: Atomic 10:EX, something like 118-84-112. wide enough for any powder but will also edge like crazy! super great ski, busts crud, high speed, carves, floats, you name it, the 10:EX can handle it! I would highly recommend demo-ing some newer, fatter boards this winter. cheers and have fun in the snow! hey, btw, I will be skiing the Baker BC this Sun/Mon if you want to come out and try my skis. not sure which pair I will use, but I can bring both pair if you are interested. give me a shout and let me know! -
no you dont! one of many great things about skiing the BC out of the ski area there...although that also usually means there are lots of other skiers there too! damn! makes it more like skiing the "frontcountry" than the "backcountry" at times... speaking of the Baker Ski Area BC/FC, we will skiing there Sun and Mon if anyone is interested in joining us. have fun in the pow! cheers, Brian :-)

ST, are you still looking for an occasional climbing partner at VW? which VW do you usuall go to? I usually climbing late, after 7:00, at the Seattle VW. and I often am looking for a partner. are you interested in hooking up sometime? cheers, Brian :-)

WOOHOO! my new best friend! :-) do you have any long access trips that require the use of the sled planned? -
NOLSe, how are you going to be in Seattle and Portland at the same time? you are trying to Pub Club for this Roger Strong slideshow and do the same in Portland for Tim O'Neal? I cant say I blame a guy for trying to drink some beer but I am just wondering how you are going to pull this one off...
-
JC, were you climbing with Carolyn on Mon? was that Zion that you did? what did you think of the route?
-
Pub'n, now that sounds like fun! when and where? MisterE, does he ever smile? maybe he just wasnt having a good time in those pics on the flyer...of course he wasnt in the one showing the gash in his head...whatever...
-

More like 1.2 pitchs of super easy fun, the rest is silly! 5 pitches or 1.2 pitches, whatever. tell me more about it if you would please?
-
what do you guys do with your tent and sleeping gear while you are climbing? do you leave it all out at the Grasslands? theft isnt an issue? what does PLAB stand for? Mr.E, did you get my email about the ride? see you all at Smith! :-)

Damn, just when I was looking forward to the donkeys and cocaine...
-
dress up for the party? is there a fancy dress party that I dont know about? and just what is appropriate attire for donkeys and cocaine?
-
if you arent committed to Switzerland then Austria might be a better option. cheaper lift tickets and more snow. so much of Switzerland gets so little snow, Zermatt only averages 250" a year! St Anton in Austria averages twice that, so if you want powder...

is anyone else interested in carpooling down on Thursday night, after work?
-
my girlfriend is looking for someone to carpool with from Seattle. she can only make it down for the two days, leave Fri after work and return Sun night after climbing. I am planning on going down for 4 days so we wont be riding together. I think she would prefer a female but not sure on that one. any one interested? PM me if so.

since we are running out of daylight, and good weather, does that mean we will get to do more drinking?!
