  1. I was on Red in the common weath basin. I took this dude up the scarmble. His first time in the mountains. We get up on top in a big fog cloud and he starts to pitch rocks off the the noth face. (I think it was the north face, the vertical face) I corrected him in the errors of his ways. He then yells down into the fog "ROCK - SORRY"
  2. Sorry I have not been up north for a while. Central about 4000 or so the blueberries are rockin. But for me the biggest bang for the berry-buck are wild mountain blackberries. they are ripe now.

  4. Was it August 16, 1977? I was on a road trip to SF with this other dude and his family. this other dude and I were going to fly to Japan from SF. I don't remember Elvis dieing, but I do remember that road trip. Weirder than weird. Beyond freaky.
  5. Dr., my son have sensitive skin to creams and lotions on his skin, and we have to buy the non-smelly sensitive skin sun screens for him. Do you think his skin will have a reaction to this Neutrogena stuff?
  6. Actually I have given up on Sunscreen. I cover up. Light weight long sleeve poly pro top. Hiking pants. OR Sahara Desert king of hat that comes over the back of the neck. I added some velco to cover my big schnoz. I really love that hat I use it always when ever I am in the sun, especially driving. Also, I find keeping the sun directly off helps to keep me from getting over heated.

    Same in Seattle but raining. What's new. Hey, FRIDAY is near. P I Z Z A ! ! !
  8. WHAT? How is snoop dog and dr. dre embarrassing? Maybe the question should be "What is a Snoop Dog?" and what kind of Doctor is Dr. Dre?
  9. You know, I Like Sun does have a good point. You should not be embarrassed about who and what you are. I like the Brookline Tabernacle Choir. “Jesus, Lover of My Soul” And I am NOT afraid to admit it. Any of the old hymns jazzed up. Amazing Grace sung to the tune of Gilligan’s Island. (Well actually you can sing AG to any tune. And it really, really works.)
  10. Earth, Wind, and Fire....
  11. I went up to Camp Muir with four other who have never been there. What slog that is.
  12. [font:Arial Black]YES, I SAID FIVE SUSTAINED PITCHES[/font]
  13. in 1979 we have the worlds first "Global Summit" to talk about enviromental issues. And do you know, or remember the main topic? Yes, it was Global COOLING! I vote for Natural Cycle. Oh, unless of course the other has political implications that support my choice of political party....
  14. I heard, with out any scientific data to back it up, that at least one glacier in Alaska is expanding. I can't remember where it was, or its name. Maybe the Stekien in S.E. AK?
  15. Has anyone said this string really ROCKS!
  16. Women (or mothers, at least) must be born knowing that. My wife said the same thing two years ago when we brought Elaina home. And it's all true! I think Muffy gets the all time quotealbe... so very true. My wife always reminds me to give my daughter plenty of hugs, and flowers. that way no boy can come along with just a few complements and take her away from her Papa.
  17. Lizar Brain, I wish I had a lizard Brain! I saved this web site to my favorites as Hiking Lizard Brains! thanks,
  18. Ah, a Cannabis sativa fan. I agree with you. I have always stayed away from C. indica as it just makes you want to sit on the couch and hallucinate as you listen to Pink Floyd, Dark Sid of the Moon.

  20. I like this one the best!
  21. I gave up on the idea of packing with small children early on. I just could not see how it could be done. My wife is a total city girl and Seattle is very small to her on her radar. The first time I took her car camping it was like I was the only adult. She could not understand anything about other that it sure was fun, and when can we do it again. So for hiking I have always carried the children when they were smaller and just did day hikes. I could do anything up to about 10 miles. I did a few 15 to 20 mile day hikes, I carried my son up Pratt mt from the Pratt lake TH some 8 to 9 years ago, but when you get up to that many miles it really becomes a work out. I would like to share my favorite day hike with you all. It was Lake Anette just bellow Silver and Tinkham. Well I think that was Thikham it might have been Abel. Anyway, I carried my daughter lunch, ground cloth, swim suites, 1 towel, water, water filter, bug repelant (much needed) Everything to have a first class pic-a-nic at the lake. It was just the lake was 5 miles in. They used their sandels to go wading in the shalows of the lake. My daughter slept most of the way out while my son and I eat Salmon Berries and pretended we were bears. If you children can't do the over night back packing then by all means don't force in on them. There are plenty of day hikes that they would love to go on, and when they get bigger, and can start to carry somethingm, then start to add weight. The first is to make sure EVERYONE, that includes us parents as well, HAVE FUN. It will be an expiernce we all will cherish out entire life.
  22. Wasn't that the code name they used in, "Up In Smoke"? No, I am sorry it was hard hat, and Chic and Chong were making fun of the cops calling the code name Lard Ass. That was it.
